Report: Ivanka Trump & Jared Kushner Behind Push to Remove Bannon (but they buried the hatchet)

Report: Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner behind push to remove Steve Bannon from White House

The knives seem to be out for White House chief strategist Bannon after anonymous sources from the White House say the first daughter and her husband want him out.

President Trump, in a series of high-profile interviews, has publicly dissed his chief strategist by saying he's "a guy who works for me" and who didn't get "involved in my campaign until very late." This was right after Bannon was removed from the National Security Council's principals committee.

According to the New York Times, people close to the Trump family have said that Ivanka and Jared's push to remove Bannon is them "addressing what they view as an embarrassing string of failures that may damage her father personally, as well as the Trump family brand."

In the Times piece, authored by Peter Baker, Glenn Thrush and Maggie Haberman, Trump's view on how he runs the West Wing like a "family business" is detailed:

More openly than any president before him, Mr. Trump is running his West Wing like a family business, and as he has soured on Mr. Bannon, his combative chief strategist, he has turned to his daughter and son-in-law. Their ascendance has some conservative supporters fretting about the rising influence of the urbane young New Yorkers, as some moderates and liberals swallow concerns about nepotism in the hope that the couple will temper the temperamental president.

At the request of White House chief of staff Reince Priebus, Bannon and Kushner met and agreed to "bury the hatchet" over their differences recently, in a bid to stop infighting that had distracted from President Donald Trump's message.

There are times when I’m forced to defend folks I wouldn’t normally defend.

I’m not a Leftist and I don’t agree with their views. I do know that we didn’t vote for them, and that should actually be all the detractors have to know.

We did vote for Trump. He’s in charge. He’s not implementing their policies, and they are merely carrying out his directives.

I did appreciate their efforts to get him elected, and that alone should please folks here realizing his views were not theirs.

They respect him. So do I. I respect them for that.

Thanks for the note.

He has cancelled the government programs that address global warming. That’s a good indication.

I don’t know if he’ll pull out or not, but I suspect he will at the very least drag his feet, and drastically cut our contribution to any efforts.

As you said, we’ll see.

I don’t remember what he said he’d do. He may have said he would pull the U.S. out.

The cancelled meeting may be an indication that’s what he intended to do. It could be he already let them know he wasn’t cooperating with it any longer. If they couldn’t get enough concessions, they may have figured it better to cancel the meeting than have Trump solidify his beliefs in public, which may have drawn others to that same conclusion.

It would be nice if there were no more meetings.

This way Trump would have avoided dropping out and offending others, but effectively killing the whole project.

Now that’s some negotiation. If true of course...

Well, if you didn’t share so much of your “personal” life, you wouldn’t open yourself up to le cheap shot. But I was, of course, referring to your ludicrous obsession with Jared, his flak jacket and the Bing Crosby Porno Conspiracy Theory.

Yes, we shall see.

I generally like Breitbart, but even they can be fed spoiled meat once in a while.

As you said, we’ll see.

You folks have nothing to point to that these two have forced the president to cave on.

How about Ivanka's push for PPH and Affordable Day Care?

If Bannon leaves, I’m finished with Trump. The daughter and son-in-law are looking out for their own. Enough. Sack Jared, a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat.

The simple fact that Trump has liberal Democrats advising him is a big deal! Ivanka definitely has leftist leanings and is doing everything she can to get him to pursue a progressive agenda. Nobody thought they were voting for her and her husband and/or their agenda and President Trump will ruin his presidency if he continues to follow their advice. They do not understand what the average American wants and needs because they are extremely wealthy liberal New Yorkers. I also was an unabashed supporter of Ivanka and Jared when they were helping Donald Trump to win the Presidency, but not now when they are trying to oust Steve Bannon and put in liberal Democrats or Republicans as advisors.

“The same can be said about the morons defending Bannon.

It’s unclear if he’s ever done anything useful.”

You obviously don’t know much about Bannon or did not know that the campaign was somewhat flailing when Kellyanne Conway and Bannon came on the campaign. Manafort was not working out and the campaign needed better direction. I had been listening to Bannon for several years as he hosted the Breitbart radio show and also encountered him in Charlotte at the 2012 DNC convention when he and Steve Bossie did a workshop with Freedomworks. He is a real patriot and has all the right ideas. You need to learn lots more about Steve Bannon before dismissing him. Ivanka and Jared are interfering with the nationalist/populist agenda that won Donald Trump the presidency! Donald Trump Jr. is much more in touch with what the American people wanted.

Okay, you believe that Ivanka pushes for Planned Parenthood funding and Affordable Day Care. Let's consider the two.

First, let me toss in another big claim about her. She was advocating for Trump to keep the global warming mandates. She was charged with inviting Al Gore in to lobby the president (with a group of others I believe). This was just terrible from all descriptions. She was for certain going to turn Trump around on the subject.

Here are some articles on the subject. I'm sure the threads fleshed out the folks who were very worried about this. LINK

So yes, Ivanka met with Gore and then Gore met with Trump. Gore described the meetings as productive. I remember some of the frantic displeasure concerning this. Ivanaka had single-handedly turned her dad around on the subject.

Days later Trump announced he was withdrawing the federal government from funding any global warming programs.

Here are the reports of that and similar subjects: LINK

Did Ivanka sway Trump? No Did Al Gore turn Trump around? No This is typical of the hype and reality on other subjects Ivanka is deemed too Left on.

Let's look at the Planned Parenthood issue. Ivanka has been charged with being a very strong proponent of funding Planned Parenthood. Many folks here were sure she was going to stop the president from defunding the agency. Did she? No

Here are articles that cover the resolution of that topic: LINK LINK

Also raised is the issue of Affordable Day Care. The charge was that Ivanka was going to get the president to offer up tax deductions for child care costs (at least in part).

This has not been resolved yet. It's my take that it will be resolved when tax reform is addressed.

What do we know about the middle class? I would offer up these concerns:

1. The middle class has taken a massive hit over the last sixteen to 27 years

2. Of the approximate 90 million people out of work, many of them are middle class people who have been displaced over the last 25 years.

3. The wages and standard of living for the middle class has remained static for those working, and has been devastated for those who lost their jobs and now make 25 to 50% of what they were making. Others are just not working at all

4. what do these types of pressures cause?
..a. They cause stress on families
..b. They lead to broken homes
..c. They lead to kids scared for life who will not experience a healthy home, and probably won't have one themselves because of it
..d. They lead to people not opting to have children

Do we see evidences of these things? Yes We see them throughout our society. We're seeing the mortality rate for older White men spike.

We're also seeing a very paltry birth rate for middle income people. While minorities and people on welfare are banging out kids into already large families, we see the middle class dying off.

I would submit that we need to help the middle class more than any other. Others have been looked out for, while the middle class has been left to languish.

How do we influence the middle class the best? We get them back to work. We also do it with tax cuts. And > IMO, to influence our middle class folks to have more children, we do support a tax deduction for child care.

I want to see the middle class birth rate explode. That is the only salvation of our nation.

So while it may look like a great big Leftist idea to some, to me it looks like a targeted tax cut to exactly the segments of our society we need to support the most. It helps young married families be productive and solvent.

We want tax cuts, and sometimes we aren't going to like exactly how they are targeted. In almost every instance, I want to see tax cuts across the board with no favoritism.

In this instance, I think we need to face the fact that we need a Manhattan type project to increase the middle class birth rate, and the lifestyle of the middle class.

So on this "Leftist" idea if that's what you want to reference it as, I say go for it.

IMO < this is every bit as strategic as rebuilding our military. Our nation isn't strong without it's military. Our nation isn't strong with a strong middle class that is growing by leaps and bounds.

We need to promote larger middle class families, now.

If we don't, the other sectors will overtake it, and this nation cannot survive that.

You don’t know that. It may be true, but you’re just tossing that out.

If he or someone else that participated stated that, I’m willing to accept it, but I don’t want some unnamed source or a loosey goosey claim.

Ryan brought it to the floor. It was his baby. He touted having come up with it and he pushed it.

It wasn’t Ivanka and Jared, and that was the point.

Someone was touting the idea they may have been the instigators of the three pronged approach to Ryan’s plan.

It doesn’t work that way. Ryan came up with it and presented it in the house. Ivanka and Jared didn’t see it until later if ever.

Thanks for the comments.

Folks the only time any of you folks take as gospel anything the media says, it’s if it’s to trash Trump. All of a sudden their observations about Ivanka and Jared are deemed 100% dead certain.

Ah, no they aren’t. They are playing us on just about every article these days. Those who didn’t like Trump are doing their best to prove why they were right. Some of the places on the right are pumping out bilge by the 55 gallon drum.

Just because someone has personal views that differ with us, it doesn’t mean they are the president, or they are going to prevail over the president.

I wrote this extensive reply to someone else.

It will have to do for now.

Take care.
