The campus that is the home of the historical free speech movement, UC Berkeley, has banned conservative commentator and author Ann Coulter, citing security threats. According to Young Americas Foundation, student organizers of an upcoming Ann Coulter event at the university were emailed by Berkeley administrators who claimed they were unable to find a safe suitable venue for Coulter.
Young Americas Foundation, BridgeCal and Berkeley College Republicans have been working together to produce a lecture at UC-Berkeley on April 27, 2017, by Ann Coulter, a twelve-time bestselling author, whose book, Adios, America! a No. 2 New York Times bestseller is widely credited with shaping President Donald Trumps immigration views, announced Young Americas Foundation in a press release, Wednesday. The topic of her speech was immigration.
UC-Berkeley, a publicly-funded university, first imposed a series of ridiculous requirements on the speech allegedly in the name of safety. Coulter, we were informed, would be required to deliver her speech in the afternoon; only students would be allowed to attend; and the speech location would not be announced until close to the event, they continued. Against our advice, Coulter agreed to all these requirements. In return, she requested two measures, which actually had something to do with safety.

Speak from the steps of the Prezzy’s house.
The story says: ’Anti-fascists’ started several fires, smashed windows and ATMs, looted downtown stores, attacked cars, and assaulted dozens of MILO fans, male and female.”
Gee, if that’s how anti-fascists act, how are they any different from fascists?
Kudos to Ann for calling BS on the free speech-banning University of California Berkeley administration. I love how she called out the chancellor on his stand-down order.
Speak louder, never cancel!
I’m not much of an Ann fan, but if I were in the area, I’d be one of the human walls of protection around her.
Being exposed to the truth makes the snowflakes “feel sad.”
As a public institution I think they should be obligated to provide a safe place for her talk. They have an obligation to keep all of their students and visitors safe even if that means arresting and prosecuting those they agree with.
When will such censorship by publicly-funded universities trigger a human-rights investigation? Everyone involved, from the university administration down to the protestors and their elusive billionaire backers, needs to be given a lesson in democracy.
Well.. they could bring in the National Guard and establish order on the campus. If they cannot control their campus, U.S. government should pull funding and re-direct it to a safer campus.
if UC can’t control its campus, get new administrators. i am sick of this. spineless turkeys.
She needs to respect private property. If UC Berzerkley says she is not allowed to speak there, the she is not allowed speak there, unless there is some public venue they can’t legally keep her from.
Berkley is a public college not private, troll much.
Unwilling seems more likely.
They still get to control the University and its venues.
And causing a riot is a crime, no matter who does it.
Though the Bezerkley cops will come down on Coulter, and anyone with her, much harder than they do on Anti-Fa thugs.
You might be more at home at DU....
She can hold her own in any audience given the chance to speak.
UC Berkeley isn’t private property. But hey, run with that one.
UC Berkeley is public property. The leftists don’t own it as its owned by the taxpayers, both left and right. Its time the lefties get their asses handed to them, either peacefully or violently. The liberals don’t own the violent responses and will rue the day if the Conservatives wish to do so.
This is a clear civil rights issue. Trump needs to do something about this before his supporters lose their rights to free speech and equal protection of law.
