FROM the outside North Korea looks like an impoverished state cut off from the rest of the world.
But during its weekend procession, the isolated regime managed to put on an impressive display of its rockets and military strength, in defiance of growing American warnings about its military capability.
While many have the impression of North Korea being a poor country that cant feed its own people, Leonid Petrov told news.com.au that it had large stockpiles of natural resources that it used to fund its weapons research.
North Korea is a mountainous country that has huge natural resources including deposits of high quality coal, gold, silver, uranium, iron ore and rare earth metals, said Dr Petrov, a visiting fellow at the Australian National University College of Asia and the Pacific.
He said North Korea had exported its minerals to allies such as China and the Soviet Union for decades until the collapse of the communist bloc.
Since then it had been more proactive in international trade, although the tightening of sanctions has seen its export ability curtailed recently.
Dr Petrov said China in particular had maintained trade in North Korea and was keen to keep a monopoly on its rare earth metal trade.
So China buys everything North Korea is prepared to offer (of its rare earth metals), he said.
These metals are important because they are used the production of many 21st century products like mobile phones, computers, LCD screens and cars....

Reading that was eerily similar to Obama/Kerry Iran Nuke deal. Blessed are the poseurs, for they shall inherit the whirlwind.
“How the hell has North Korea managed to build a massive military stockpile?”
About the best timeline of this is at this site:

There are some points left out though. Bill Clinton in the early 90’s shipped a number of supercomputers to North Korean so they could generate power to aide in their agricultural programs. The machines were up graded from the ability to enrich industrial capacity to weapons grade.

Nice drums!
If we’ve learned anything about communist regimes, it’s that they specialize in fakery

Quite simply - by starving and freezing their own people to death...
Oh, my.
Imagine what a MOAB might have done during the big NORK show of all those goose-stepping folks and dummy missles...
As late as the Clintoon period, negotiations were held to reign in the NORKS. It has always been the policy of the US to ASSUME that a Communist/Rogue nation will abide by a document and agreement, they never do and we eat crow each time. The same can be said for the Western backed “Oslo Peace Accords” where the US, Israel and Europe thought the PLO would abide by an agreement, they never do.
Billy boy Clinton sent Mad Albright and the infamous State Dept. key negotiator, WENDY SHERMAN to hammer out an agreement that only a naive fool would conduct with a nation like NORK. The US State Dept. is such a body. SO Wendy Sherman reached an agreement and as we see, it was never honored.
Years later, the same mistake was made yet again. This time Pres. Obama sent John Kerry and Wendy Sherman, (again???) to conduct negotiations with Iran. Once again, it was naive and foolish to assume that Iran, like the NORKS would honor an agreement.
The Iranians just adopted the NORK model and viola!! Same results!
We never learn...Why was Wendy Sherman sent again to negotiate on behalf of the US? She failed twice.

That’s not failure! That’s winning.....in the Dem alternate, socialist universe.
N. K. has a GDP of $12.4 Billion with a population of 25 million while S.K. has a GDP of $ 1.38 TRILLION {both are in US Dollars} and a population of 51 million.
North Korea is dead broke, just do the math.
the same reason the whole world is on fire: obama
I’m starting to wonder how much of that is really true.
Rather than take my word, I would suggest you take about 20 minutes of your valuable time and do a little research for yourself...
I got interested in NK after reading the book “Camp 14”
The story of the only person to escape alive from a NK work camp to China. He was born in the camp, he could never leave...watched his mother get hung for some minor infraction....
Also I will add the NK have a three generations policy of being imprisoned. Whoever would up being found guilty of subversion, thier entire family for three generations go to camp...
