Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said on Tuesday that President Trump's frequent trips to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida bother not only her, but other members of the Republican caucus.
"I do wish he would spend more time in Washington, D.C.," Ernst said during a town hall meeting. "That's what we have the White House for."
Since he took office, Trump has spent seven out of the last 13 weekends at his self-described "Southern White House" in Palm Beach. The visits have stirred controversy, in part because of the enormous costs associated with such frequent travel.
One estimate of the weekend trips by CNN placed the cost so far above $20 million, putting Trump on track to spend more on travel in his first year in office than former President Barack Obama spent in eight years.
Before becoming president, Trump frequently assailed Obama for his excessive travel and vacations, arguing that the then-president should stay in Washington to work rather than play golf on the weekends.
"I think that has been bothering not just me but some other members of our caucus," Ernst said of Trump's Mar-a-Lago trips.

Feel free to cap his expenses for travel
You can start by taking it out of his salary, which he already donates.
I suspect he will donate his retirement salary as well.
You can also take it out of all the savings he has achieved from Airforce 1 and other military programs.
You can also pretend you are virtuous and never fund a wall that is already by law.
Don’t move forward on medical insurance reform and repeal ObamaCare.
Don’t bother with tax reform either.

* But more important in the leak days of his Admin ( they may not be over ) he could be sure Mar-a-Lago wasn't bugged!
* He could speak and conduct business in a relaxed environment, not a cesspool with telescopic lenses and reporters that raise the question, "Who raised you?" because they behave so bad, not to name any names Andrea Mitchell....

The less time our representatives, including the President, spend in Washington, the better.
“Washington” is an antiquated notion. It’s not like this is 1800 and our politicians have to take a horse and buggy to Washington to get their work done.
Nearly every one of them could get their work done from an office in their home district, or from their home, saving us billions. Let them meet in person once a year for the State of the Union or something.
Washington is the problem. Let Washington become a museum.

We need a new capital. Brazil had the right idea when it schlepped everything to the boondocks and developed Brasilia. For those who scoff, let me remind them what Disney did with a couple tens of thousands of acres of swamp near Kissimmee in Florida. Put it somewhere only an ascetic could love free from existing slums, traffic congestion, homos, commies, drug dealers, whores and lobbyists. I think the worst of those might be obvious. Remove any incentives to stay past the sell-by date and you will never need term limits.

Further back than that....I can remember when Nixon would go to his “Western White House” in San Clemente, California. He would do this several times per year. Nobody griped about it.
