I am waiting for April to reach up to the camera, use her long tongue and slatter the camera lens giving her privacy.

The hooves are out to the beginning of the dark portion of April’s tail. She is lifting her tail more, things are progressing naturally.

She just paused for a big contraction. You could see the extended legs moving a little up and down. getting there.

Another contraction, the legs seem to be out a little further. Soon, it will all be a down hill slide.

First words from Mama G to baby G—”be careful getting up honey- you’ll break your neck!”

I was all set to sleep late, when my husband woke me mid-dream to say, “It’s happening!”
(So many weeks of watching! I deserve one of those ‘I Survived Giraffe Watch’ T-shirts)

I would be there ready with the chains to pull the calf. Can’t stand watching this.

Nose will be next....then the difficult shoulders....after that it’ll drop out fast....

Likely will be in labor 45 minutes to an hour.........some go longer. But once that snout comes out it goes pretty quickly.....hardest part are the shoulders.....

April made progress that last contraction. watch the hooves and her tail, a couple of inches more, turn the corner and it will happen.

She took a little snack break a few minutes ago. I always marvel that animals don’t feel the pain humans do in labor.
