Pulitzer prize-winning columnist Peggy Noonan writes in the Wall Street Journal about the efforts to take out White House strategist Steve Bannon. While offering a candid assessment of Bannons shortcomings and strengths, Noonan summarizes Bannons populist and nationalist worldview as outlined in a speech he gave at the Vatican in 2014 a speech that predicted the issues that propelled Trump to victory in 2016.
From Noonans column:
But theres something low, unseemly and ugly in the efforts to take [Bannon] out so publicly and humiliatingly, to turn him into a human oil spot on the tarmacthis not only from his putative colleagues but now even the president. I like Steve, but you have to remember he was not involved in my campaign until very late, Mr. Trump purred to the New York Posts Michael Goodwin.
What will take its place if [Bannon] leaves the White House or recedes as a figure? What worldview will prevail, to the extent Mr. Trump does worldviews? Policy changes accompanying Mr. Bannons diminishment this week included the presidents speaking approvingly of the Export-Import Bank and NATO, declaring that China isnt a currency manipulator after all, suggesting the dollar may be too strong, and hitting Syria and Afghanistan.
None of that sounds like Candidate Trump.

You are wrong. It is an effort to take out both Bannon and Kushner at the same time by the DC political class. Treat it accordingly
Even worse, she was an always Obama.
If he turns globalist than I am done. He was voted into office for change. If he flips then the uniparty has won.
It was obvious all along Trump wouldn’t keep Bank on very long.
But Bannon didn’t “give speeches to the Pope.” He spoke at a conference that did not have any official standing with the Catholic Church and was not attended by Poor Francis or -— as far as I know -—any of Francis’ political allies.
All of Trump’s actions have been done exclusively for America’s interests, national security or otherwise.
He wrote THE book on Hypersonics among other things, lol.

BS. Environmental regulations the climate change propaganda have vanquished. An originalist was nominated to SCOTUS. Border crossings are down and deportments are up. Funding for PP has been decreased.
Those actions speak loudly but you're not listening.
I like it. It sums up far too many posting here lately.
Well said.
How on earth can anyone believe Ms Noonan? She sold her soul to the devil when she voted for BO’B the first time (and probably dumb enough to vote for him a second)
Bannon is a big boy and knows how to handle himself. DJT is a smart man - surely he realizes without a full team, he is a quarterback with no receivers, guards, or tight ends which = fewer fans in the stadium.
You know the MSM is infecting FR when Peggy Noonen is believed.
Copy. However if Trump is speaking to this, then there must be some truth to it. No?
I doubt he’ll get dem votes and I know I won’t be voting for him - - ever.
Didn’t I see, right here on FR this past week, that NATO members altogether have ponied up $2 Billion into the NATO kitty just since January 20th? That’s just a start, but enough to make them no longer obsolete in DJT’s book.
Actually, I hope he sees my comment and realizes how tenuous his credibility is with the base. Steve Bannon and Breitbart think the way a lot of us do.\
If Bannon is being pushed farther away,* he needs to hear from the base more than ever. Cohn, Hassett, and Kushner don’t represent my views in any way.
I do think that Trump is surrounded by establishment elitist types (military included). I think it is good idea for people to post how they feel here**—Sad seeing every article that they don’t like discounted by shouting “FAKE NEWS”
I have heard that President Trump does look at You Tube clips, so why wouldn’t he or staff look at Free Republic
too.
*I don’t know if Bannon is being pushed away or not for sure—and I doubt anyone truly knows what is going to happen with Bannon—not even Bannon. Sure seems like it though...
**Or use contact form to White House, Twitter etc.
“Even worse, she was an always Obama.”
I believe Peggy did indeed vote for Obama, at least the first time around.
> I fear Schwarzenegger II is coming...
Eh, we’ve already had better boarder enforcement than we’ve had since Ike, we’ve gotten a sold Conservative Supreme court justice, and the EPA is being gutted. Anyone 1 of those 3 wouldn’t have been a huge victory based on the field in 2016.
Of course the downside is the American republic is still on a course for civil war and division. Without full reform all of Trumps actions will be rolled by the first time the dems get power.
When doubt crept into my FR foxhole on Tuesday afternoon, November 8, 2016, I suddenly realized that a Big Ole Info Blast from LS was just the ticket to assuage my fears & angst.
So, I motored directly to his FR postings, and was immediately enveloped in the arms of surety about the election's outcome.
Everybody else had to wait until later that night. 😀
