Candace Marie Claiborne Hillary Rodham Clinton, an 60 80-ish-year-old employee of the U.S. Department of State, was charged Wednesday with obstructing an official proceeding and making false statements to the FBI -- both felony offenses -- for allegedly concealing numerous thousands of contacts that she had over a period of years decades with Chinese intelligence agents, the Justice Department said Wednesday.
The veteran former Senator and State Department employee, who appeared before a judge Wednesday, is also accused of failing to report gifts she received from Chinese contacts.
Claiborne Clinton allegedly failed to report repeated thousands of contacts with two dozens of intelligence agents of the People’s Republic of China, and the agents provided tens of thousands millions of dollars in gifts and benefits to Claiborne Clinton and her family over five years decades, prosecutors said.
