China warns against force as North Korea prepares celebration

Military force cannot resolve tension over North Korea, China said on Thursday, while an influential Chinese newspaper urged the North to halt its nuclear program in exchange for Chinese protection.

Concerns have been growing that North Korea could soon conduct a sixth nuclear test or more missile launches in defiance of U.N. sanctions and stark warnings from the United States that a policy of patience was over.

With a U.S. aircraft carrier group steaming to the area in a show of force and tensions rising, fears of a confrontation have been rising.

China, North Korea's sole major ally and neighbor, which nevertheless opposes its weapons program, has called for talks leading to a peaceful resolution and the denuclearization of the peninsula.

"Military force cannot resolve the issue," Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told reporters in Beijing. "Amid tensions we will also find a kind of opportunity to return to talks."

While U.S. President Donald Trump has put North Korea on notice that he would not tolerate any provocation, U.S. officials have said his administration was focusing its strategy on tougher economic sanctions.

From the article:

But a senior Trump administration official described as "flat wrong" an NBC News report citing senior U.S. intelligence officials as saying the United States is prepared to launch a pre-emptive conventional weapons strike should officials be convinced North Korea was about to follow through with a nuclear weapons test.

Another U.S. official also dismissed the report, calling it "speculative at best."

If NK continues with Nuke tests, China is going to take the first step in dealing with Lil Kim, and they have the US Navy, the Japanese Navy, and the Russian Navy to back them up.

That’s the way you do it. Give NK an offer they can’t refuse.

China just wants him to “halt” his tests and then they protect him. He keeps all his weapons programs. Not good.

“in exchange for Chinese protection.”

And there it is..... I felt like I was in the twilight zone with all this talk of China sticking it to NK.

The Chinese f’s up.

China is threatening the US via Nork proxy.

US has major negotiating power over China.

Face is important in China, until those bastards threaten your life.

Give them face, and behind closed doors explain exactly what will become of the 2000 year old losers if they don’t comply.

The time for talk is now over. Direct from our new and much improved State Department.

Diplomats are just for fixing the enemy until you get your forces in place.

Retired Lt. Colonel Oliver North seems to believe NK colludes with Iran as well.

And Syria. I seem to remember something about a Syrian-NK nuclear program that the Israelis destroyed a few years back.

I seriously doubt the Chinese are going to initiate anything. And even if they did, the Chinese army is terrible and their record in border conflict is poor.

The troops on the NK border are there to keep NorK refugees out of China. If those troops are going to do anything in North Korea, it would be to set up and maintain refugee camps south of the Yalu.

We cannot attack North Korea without setting off a devastating artillery barrage of Seoul. Half of South Korea’s population is in range of the North’s guns.

No one will do nothing—The test will go off—a rocket will be launched and the uSA will slink back. That’s the pattern—Only if The north Korean does something stupid—like invadse the south or launch a naval and air attack on our ships. Only that would start an armed conflict. He’s dumb—but not that dumb. Still, it could happen—A General war with Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, Sudan, Yemen, North Korea all hitting the USA at the same time—might work—at least at first. But do Americans have the guts to fight? Would the left picket and protest agaisnt “Trump’s War”? what happens in LA and Frisco are blown up? What if 1/2 Million Americans Die? What if the internet is down? Surrender?

There is simply no way President Trump is going to jump into military action on the Korean Peninsula this early in his administration.

The best thing he has going for him right now is his unpredictability. Hopefully that’s enough to get Kimmy to back down some.

The one advantage we have here is that Kim loses nothing by backing down. He controls everything his people hears so, he could literally hand over the entirety of his nuclear program and still release news to his people of some glorious victory.

I just saw a defense analyst on FBN who said article calls for NK to give up their nukes in exchange for Chinese protection, the way we guarantee South Korea. He said it calls for Korea to be a nuclear free zone. This is from a semi-official communist party paper. This plus they suspended some flights to NK, and stopped taking their coal, and will buy ours instead. I think Trump got more from them than is being reported.
