Why do you have such a problem with people being concerned about the actions of their government?
Bad things happen to people who don’t question their leaders...
Bad things can also happen to good leaders when malcontent agitators run around gratuitously undermining morale in the cause.

The perceptive Patriots of that era realized his greatness, and gave him their loyalty and trust. The same applies in the present day.
I have NO problem with people being concerned. But when that becomes false, unfounded accusations, and undermines morale, it starts to serve as de facto Enemy propaganda—whether intentional or not—and sometimes it is clearly intentional.
