Dang I better get my paperwork updated. Also we should be getting those 1911’s now that we have a gun friendly administration.

Depends on the condition. Some of those garands are pretty rough, and the barrels gauge poorly. That's why I bought the 'Springfield Special'.

They should offer them to Vets first. Why TF should the collectors be first and the wholesale buyers? They aren’t match rifles, they are probably very used combat rifles. How do I get on the list as a Vet with 28 years of active and reserve time after serving as a draftee. LOL. Gun dealer $$$$$$ is more important.

Back to the sons and daughters of taxpayers who paid for them...
Me being one of them... my old man, Airborne, WWII and Marine uncles LOVED the Garand.
First rifle I ever learned to shoot.
Back where they belong. With Americans who will appreciate them.

“They should offer them to Vets first.”
Good idea. I believe you could start a petition on the White House site for Trump to order exactly that to the defense department.

Best to do your homework before posting.

If memory serves me right..., the Garands often had their stocks shortened when used by Asian allies. Thus they would all need new stocks (at a minimum)...

A very warm and humid country. It will be interesting to see what kind of condition they’re in. Never out of the box and still coated in cosmoline would be great.

Go read the rifle sales info - there are provisions which make it quicker for veterans to get their orders in. CMP firearms do not go through local FFLs - they are shipped to your address. No dealer mark-up.

Well, there IS the matter of completing the marksmanship
program before purchase eligibility. That will stretch
the time line out a little.
My gun club participated in CMP for years and it was quite
successful. Of personal interest is what might have
become of the Garand my WWII paratrooper dad left behind
when he was carried from the field of battle after a
head wound during the liberation of Manila in early 1945.
