Jonathan Haidt is a social psychologist who has been in the, news sharing his erroneous theory of morality in a mistitled book, The Righteous Mind: Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion. Dr. Haidt bases his theory of morality on the atheist assumption that evolution is a non-purposive mechanism, driven by random mutations selected for survival functionality. From that spiritual void, Dr. Haidt tells us morality is an artifact of evolutionary sociobiology. "Evolution shaped human brains[, resulting in] evolved psychological mechanisms that work together to suppress selfishness and make social life possible."
Social life is the universal human condition, with or without morality. Two murderers in a cell are a social group, yet if one doesn't slit the other's throat, it is not necessarily because of morality. But in Professor Haidt's functionalist understanding, any suppression of selfishness in a group is an example of morality. In this godless model, a terrorist who suppresses a wish to kill his sex slave and instead lets another terrorist rape her is displaying morality. In truth, morality operates to suppress selfishness not merely for social order, but for the possibility of divinely inspired existence.
The vast tragedy of psychology is the inability to see that while the relationships among humans can rise to the level of lawfulness, righteousness exists only in the relationship between mankind and God. Morality is based not in biology, but in divinity. Social coercion, control, and cooperation develop to stabilize social processes and accomplish individual and group ends, for good or evil. But that is different from morality. Morality develops in civilizations that have a unifying religious experience of human worth and shared understanding of sacred truth. Morality is the highest benefit of being born into such a civilization.

Humanists think that we’re only animals driven by instinct alone. But unlike animals, we learn in order to advance our society. We can also shape ourselves beyond mere instinct to achieve a spiritual awareness that instinct can’t give us. Our sense of morality comes from somewhere else, not our instinctive tribal behavior.
What do you want? Pay for it and take it. A simple conservative viewpoint.
If psychologists are in doubt, I recommend chapter 1 of “The Law” by Frédéric Bastiat as a primer.

Any man, or any nation that lacks morality, regardless of the situation, will suffer.
A lack of morality equals a lack of law, self respect, respect for others.
Morality equals God, Family, Corps, and Country.
I was listening to Ben Stein on some radio show and he says goes to one of the few ‘republican’ psychotherapists in the country.
His therapist says that he has never seen anything like what’s happening with the left in America. A psychotic break with reality. Dangerous times
If anyone wants to waste their time reading meaningless pseudoscientific claptrap there are plenty of books out there by shrinks.
The author does not understand human soul development. The differences attributed to the conservative generally align with the commandments in the Bible as they are also the values of the soul when they are pure as a child and enter this world. It is a matter of following God’s Will, not our will.
The liberal is more about Me, Me, Me and the self actualization that goes with it. They are ego centered and everything revolves around them and what they want. They follow their own ego will and not God’s Will. The sad part of it is that the more an individual builds an ego will with values that are inconsistent with God’s Will and transcending self or dying daily, the more difficult their transition becomes.
To the extent that a conservative individual self actualizes and develops and ego identity that is consistent with the moral values of the pure child and thus God’s Will, the easier it is to diminish self and allow the Holy Spirit to move in during self transcendence. i.e. It is easier to be a servant of God when you already know and follow God’s rules.

Psychologists are generally not considered “shrinks.” Only psychiatrists are considered “shrinks.” This however is not always true.
The difference is usually a lot more intelligence and a lot of training as the psychiatrist has completed a rigorous undergrad program in the sciences, med school, a three year residency under the supervision of an MD psychiatrist, and has a lot more responsibility. There is little comparison between the two.
One of my undergrad degrees is in psychology. It was the easiest coursework I ever completed. In many ways it was a joke as I had to continue into neuroscience to get the meat.

And the proof is WW l, WW ll, Korean War,Vietnam War, Iraq War , etc etc not to mention gas chambers, bombings, beheadings etc etc just a few things of suppressed selfishness?
I have two comments on this.
1) After watching so many hate-filled Democrats losing it after the election, I do wonder if anyone has studied whether mental health patients tend to be liberal or conservative. My inclination is to think that many more liberals need to see a psychologist or psychiatrist than do conservatives.
2) If the left is indeed inclined toward Eastern religions and philosophy, then they have missed a central tenet of Buddhism in regards to desire and detachment. Leftists are so emotionally attached to politics and to “coveting” so many things that others have that they do not, I don’t think they have a deep understanding of any religion, Eastern or Western. And certainly they cannot simply stand back and watch developments in a spiritually detached way.

So question if you follow thia assumption how do you explained gay, transgender,and now a multitude of (sterile) genders "evolving" out of this assumption.. how is that a survival function..as the evolution of gender is part of an efficient reproduction/ survival strategy .. and that's the very essence of Darwinism.....if they wanted seriously they have to be consistent in their beliefs and theories
And how many conservatives think psychologists are subhuman parasites interested in only themselves and their kind?
If that had proved too rigorous a curriculum, you could have always switched to something easier: history, urban studies, etc., and if that was too tough, you could have pursued an Education degree. And if all else fails there's always journalism.
How badly? Supremely badly.

Even if the atheist position were correct (I don’t believe it is), one aught to admit that the human capacity for reason can easily overrule selfish instincts, and account for all sorts of social behavior.
I might not act selfish, for example, because I reason that doing so would cause others to want to be selfish towards me, or even to do me harm. That wouldn’t be some involuntary evolutionary trait, just a simple act of reason.
And our failure to abide morally also comes from somewhere else: Original Sin.
If you can’t just take it, try to get someone else to pay for it - liberal viewpoint :)
