--SNIP-- The 5-year-old plant in deep-red Idaho sparked a firestorm, particularly from the far-right media. Breitbart News claimed that the plant brought refugees, crime and tuberculosis to the town. Ulukaya said he and the Twin Falls mayor received death threats. It was an emotional time. People ... hate you for doing something right, Ulukaya said. Theres not much you can do.

Beware the epidemic and crime crises in Twin Falls.
I saw part of that piece. There were two sisters who claimed to have been kidnapped and trafficked and got away. They didn’t want to reveal their names or where they are from to protect their families.
Uh huh.
Some of the results of those fine refugees

Bankrupt Chobani.
Cr@p! I just bought some of their yogurt, today.
Well, the hogs will enjoy it...
Stopped buying their product when I heard of this.
I watched that part. good that he hired some “locals” but it said at the end much of his donations go toward “refugee” help, as well as he clearly said at his idaho plant he hired locals and now many “refugees/immigrants”.
very unAmerican of him imho to seek out more refugees instead of seeing if American citizens in other states would like to come work there and be helped out, instead of importing people!
He doesn’t seem to care about USofA, just of opportunities and taking most advantage of each one he can
Why the hell would anyone think that is a good thing? Hey, if he can't get workers (questionable at best) and that was all he could do to operate, and he didn't cripple his company by raising the prices for translators...power to him. It is his company.
I think it is foolish, but is what the liberals and people like this turkey want, a balkanization of America. People wonder why health care is so expensive...one of the gazillion reasons is that translators have to be available for nearly any language you can imagine. A family member cannot serve as a translator. So that all has to be paid for. And it isn't free.
But it is one more straw on the camel's back.
Same here. And I have told every like minded person I know about it, too.
We spent the night in Twin Falls 4 years ago. I thought it was about the most beautiful place on earth when we pulled into town that evening.
I will never buy it ever again...
and I hope Trump does something about stopping the US taxpayer from enriching another muzzie at our expense...
The obama drops in the middle of the night in the heart land is a prime example of the desgust they have for this country, when oh when are we going to prosecute and jail these bastards
I started making my own yogurt a while back. It’s very easy.
We stopped buying it too. What about the locals that he “saved” by bringing his business to Upstate NY? He spoke at youngest step-daughter’s graduation - seemed to be great that he moved in and saved the town - Morristown (I think)after a dairy business closed.
New York is losing citizens in droves - I just pray they don’t vote the same way and ruin Texas!
Millions of Americans need jobs. There is NO VIRTUE to being in America and importing workers when there are fellow CITIZENS here in need of these jobs.
I’ve boycotted their yogurt since I first learned about it. Every time I’m in the yogurt section at the store I’m tempted to put sticky note with some tacky comment but with my luck they’d put me in the slammer.
Fage is the best yogurt anyway.
I saw the story. It said nothing about him importing workers. It talked about him employing people who are already here.
This is among the more head scratching threads I’ve ever seen. If these people are here, would you rather these people get jobs, or keep sucking on the government tit??
This guy started a business, and is a billionaire. Sounds like the realization of the American Dream to me.
