Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney will send a letter this week ordering federal agencies to prepare for massive cuts, according to a report from Axios.
As part of Donald Trumps plan to streamline federal government, Mulvaney will demand that federal agencies significantly reduce their costs and increase efficiency. The reorganization will likely involve selling assets, laying off employees, and the cancellation of programs deemed unnecessary.
The letter will fall in line with Trumps executive order from March 13th, which dictates Mulvaney propose a plan to reorganize governmental functions and eliminate unnecessary agencies (as defined in section 551(1) of title 5, United States Code), components of agencies, and agency programs.
In the new administrations first White House budget, Trump ordered record cuts for a number of federal agencies, including a 31 percent cut to the Environmental Protection Agency, a 28 percent cut to the State Department, and a 17.9 percent cut to the Department of Health and Human Services. It also proposed eliminating funds for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as well as the endowments for the Arts and the Humanities.

Awesome.
I am sure Hillary would have done the same /s
:^)
Keep popping the popcorn. This may take a while.
Hillary would have ordered those cuts and would have pocketed it all.
I guess that means passport applications & IRS refunds won’t be processed, and National Parks won’t be open. Priorities, you know... (All but the top are progressive lifers and they’re the ones that matter, for now.)
Winning.

Sell off the excess Federal Land, which would be almost all of it.
“Conan, what is best in life?”
“To cut their budgets. To drive down the money they can steal for campaign donations. To hear the lamentations of the Democrat politicians.”
“Yes, this is best!”

Excellent.
Children will starve and fish will die ...
OH! The Crying, that will come.
One slight catch. Congress has to approve the budget. They haven’t approved this one.
Just think, with all these High Quality High Skilled ex-Federal employees now available, what happens to the “we need immigrants for our economy” argument?
No, he can order federal agencies to unilaterally trim their budgets.
Presidents don’t typically do this, so it seems unfamiliar.
He can’t do things to our taxes without Congress.
Exactly!
There will be crying, but the sad truth is that the crying will be but a tear drop in the lake of entitlements that will eventually be drastically cut through either common sense reform or inflationary spending.
These cuts need to happen and there is money to be saved, but we are only delaying the inevitable if we fail to address entitlements with drastic cuts. Executive branch spending cuts are insignificant compared to entitlements and the waste and fraud that is found there.
Why not a set percentage across the board for all agencies? Why make one Sacred Cow more important/less important than another? They’re ALL going to be hollering over this.
And remind people that this is gonna hurt...but only for a little while. Just lie back and think of England. ;)
“One slight catch. Congress has to approve the budget. They havent approved this one.”
Congress will have a very hard time stopping the government from not spending money
