I think the president will be tested again, soon. One of these agents will want to see if the Tomahawks were a fluke or if the president is going to be a consistent actor on the world stage.

I am somewhat curious about the selection of precise targets of the strikes. I had heard that flights were still taking off from that air base.

That Xi was so quiet afterwards seems to me that he and his government aren't yet able to decode the president and aren't sure how to take him. That is refreshing.

Would you agree that unlike War Games, where the only way to win is not to play, in our scenario, the only way to win is to force *everybody* to play all at once, knowing that will crash alliances and force everybody to step down?

They really found out about it with the starfish test back in the early 60s. That one put down electronics over 1400 KM away. And that was when a lot of electronics were of the old tube type which could handle EMPs to a degree.

Anything with a diode is toast.

The way I see it, Republicans in Congress paved Obama’s road to ‘transform’ this nation.. particularly lord McCain, and I despise lord McCain as much as Hillry or Obama ...

That's one of the reasons I left Arizona. The canals in particular seemed like juicy targets.

Up in Minnesota, there is much more fresh water close at hand. ;-)

I cannot discuss the particulars but a nuc blast overhead will wipe out everything.

My understanding is that EMPs are one of the easier things to accomplish in the world of nuclear attacks. It doesn’t take MIRV and doesn’t require all that much precision in aim. You just have to make the thing go bang up there. NK definitely has nuclear warheads and either has or will soon have ability to put them on missiles. While their missile program is not terribly impressive to date all the failures are the path to improvement and practical usability. With EMP if they fire ten, only one has to be successful.

Not true.

“North Korea’s last round of tests, conducted in May 2009, appear to have included a “super-EMP” weapon, capable of emitting enough gamma rays to disable the electric power grid across most of the lower 48 states, says Dr. Peter Vincent Pry, a former CIA nuclear weapons analyst and president of EMPact America, a citizens lobbying group.
Samore, who handles arms control and non-proliferation issues, warned that “additional strong sanctions will be imposed on the North with the support of Russia and China.”

North Korea’s nuclear tests have been dismissed as failures by some analysts because of their low explosive yield. But Dr. Pry believes they bore the “signature” of the Russian-designed “super-EMP” weapon, capable of emitting more gamma radiation than a 25-megaton nuclear weapon.

I’m one of those civilians now.

At least we don’t have a gay ass living on some French Island in charge anymore.

Nothing about Tillerson’s saber-rattling and suggestions that we’re in it for “regime change”. That’s the talk that really irritates me. It implies much more than a “brush-back pitch.”

The Norks have the use of freighters that could be or already are fitted with launch mechanisms. It doesn’t have to be a Nork freighter.
