In its ongoing bid to combat fake news, Google follows Facebook in announcing new technology to help curb spread of misinformation.
Google is to start displaying fact-checking labels in its search results to highlight news and information that has been vetted and show whether it is considered to be true or false, as part of its efforts to help combat the spread of misinformation and fake news.
The fact-checking feature, which was first introduced to Google News in the UK and US in October, will now be displayed as an information box in general search results as well as news search results globally.

Know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Of course, first you must have Google.
By GOOGLES standards ?? No thanks,I ll do my own homework
And who gets to decide what is true or false?
Who vets Google?
GOOGLE?
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
We do.
Too bad Google et. al. do not understand this.
Any news site (WaPo, CNN, NY Times, MSNBC) that does not know the difference between illegal and legal immigrants should automatically be labeled fake news.
Truth can mean many things. Once a Olympics game had two contestants. Russia and the USA. The USA won.
In the Russian papers it said Russia came in 2nd but the USA came in next to last.
Google?? Ha! Ha!!!
... they mean they’ll put fact-check labels on articles that FIT THE LEFTIST NARRATIVE.
There... fixed it....
And Google comes by this expertise how, exactly?
Putting the Fox in charge of the Hen House always works out well...for the FOX.
‘Trust but verify,’ USED to be the way to go. Now I DISTRUST until I DO verify.
Will all of the MSM outlets be labeled #FakeNews???
If not, the system is worthless.
Opportunity Knocks
Sounds to me like Google is opening itself up for some mighty hefty False Advertising Lawsuits.
I guess it is up to FR to fact-check the fact checkers.
Google to display fact-checking labels to show if news is true or false
Really? Why should I trust GOOGLE for this?
Thank you!
I quit using Google years ago.
This is just another reason not to go back

No thanks Google. Just give us the facts for a change.
It’s such a shame that our nation somehow came into being with the Founders, the Founding Documents, The Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution it did, without Google there to protect us.
It’s sad that we avoided having a King because Washington was wise enough and humble enough to see it as ‘the wrong thing’ for the nation. And Google, it wasn’t there.
It’s sad how we had a civil war and struck down the existence of slavery. No, Google wasn’t there. Sniff, sniff...
Equal rights, emancipation, civil rights... Google wasn’t there.
When unions had their hay-day and most folks saw them to be evil enterprises, nope, no Google.
When our schools were great, graduating good capable citizens, Google wasn’t there. When our college students actually focused on a great educational goals preparing them for excellence in the work force, Google wasn’t there.
When homosexuality was lofted to be just as reasoned as heterosexuality, hey, what do you know, Google was there.
When the LGBT circus came to town, Google was there.
When a possible illegal alien with radical Islamic beliefs was voted in as the first Halfrican President, Google was there.
As Obama governed for eight years, lie after lie after lie after lie, almost to infinity, Google had it’s nose so firmly implanted, it took an Ear Nose and Throat specialist to undo Google’s belt buckle down Obama’s throat.
Today we have Black Lives matter, universities attacking White Students for things that took place 170 to 50 years ago, and them being forced into re-education meetings to admit to some sort of treachery and guilt for being born White. And Google is here. S I L E N T L Y
Google, thanks but no thanks, if you catch my drift.
