-— Times have changed, China has changed.-—

Ahhh.... Rational thought

Some like to rant about Chicoms, totally ignoring the concept of Chicaps.

It is a fact that the Chicaps and the Koreans, the South Koreans, have developed strong and growing trade ties. It appears that the success of the Chicaps and their back and forth dealings in South Korea is worth much more than the drag of the Koreans to the North.

Premature to conclude that.

Agreed. Nothingspeak for domestic consumption probably proffered up on both sides.

But we can hope.

After that demonstration of US determination in Syria, the “shock and awe” which Bush-43 claimed was once more reinstated, and shock waves will continue to reverberate through the world as the lesson sinks in.

Pyongyang should prepare themselves for potential hell to rain down upon them. Or perhaps there could be a very sudden regime change.

The Chinese do not want huge swarms of North Korean refugees overrunning the Yalu river. Removal of Kim Jong-Un is the most economical move they could make at this point.

"You go now. You been here four hour." - China

"No." - Nork

"Oh, he go now." - Trump

If North Korea truly comes into the modern world I will consider Trump’s presidency and unconditional success.

Not knocking your comment, but NK is in the modern world,

NK is very modern when compared to other counties.

They are one of the few nuclear nations on the planet.

Moving NK into a modern free state is a generational task...

It will take at least two generations of freedom to rid the nation of the vestiges of the Kim dictatorship...

North China exists only because China allows it to exist

What does that corner of the world look like if China absorbs North Korea? I can't imagine that's a solution that would please Japan or South Korea.

China needs to take care of NK. If not we need special ops to take out the NK leadership. No need for a classic invasion. If the top tumbles it all crashes down.

An attack on Kim whether successful or not is very likely to lead to a full scale war on the peninsula. We have to keep in mind their society is brainwashed in a similar manner to pre WWII Japan.

Only chance I see of a way out of the Korea mess is if China decides war, possibly nuclear is a real threat and decides that isn't in their interest. I think that is exactly what the President is portraying right now with his latest military moves.

Big risk, but Trump appears to be taking a shot.

Get real. NK is actively building a nuclear ICBM force to kill YOU. Here in America. This has nothing to do with neocons or isolationists.

I say to Trump: What you must do, do quickly.

One hope to avoid war across the DMZ is a coordinated American Chinese strike. We shall see.

I don’t see the type of run up needed to handle a NK counterattack but we’ll see.

I agree. China’s not Maoist anymore and the Dear Leader is not as competent or rational as his grandfather was.

North Korea was a junkyard dog which has now become rabid and needs to be put down, even China knows that.

Still, China sitting on their hands is just not plausible given Norks flooding into China after TSHTF. China doesn't do refugee camps. China does border gun nests.

And China really doesn't do Nork refugee camps - not knowing who is a legit refugee and who is a Nork operative.

No, they'll get involved, and they'll want something for it.

Why would China absorb North Korea?

Bringing North Korean in line means replacing the Dear Leader and stop supporting North Korea’s military.

North Korea can continue to exist, only her capability of starting WWIII needs to be removed.

South Korea and Japan already trade with China, I don’t see either nation having a problem with China putting an end to the insane policies of North Korea.

That would be a tall order.
The Norks have been brainwashed for 70 years.

It will take at least a generation for the Norks to be ready for the modern world. Reunification will not be nearly as easy as it was for the Germans.

"North Korea can continue to exist, only her capability of starting WWIII needs to be removed."

That may be what Trump has told China, but reunification will be the end result of any regime change.
