Beirut: Warplanes on Saturday struck the Syrian town where a chemical attack had killed scores of people earlier this week, as Turkey warned that a retaliatory US missile strike on a Syrian air base would only be "cosmetic" if greater efforts are not made to remove President Bashar Assad from power.
The airstrikes on the opposition-held northern town of Khan Sheikhoun, where 87 people were killed in the chemical attack earlier this week, killed a woman and wounded her son, according to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the Local Coordination Committees, an activist collective.
Elsewhere in Syria, US-led airstrikes killed at least 21 people, including a woman and her six children who were fleeing on a boat across the Euphrates River near the Islamic State group's self-styled capital, Raqqa, the target of a major offensive by US-backed and Kurdish-led Syrian forces, activists said.

Alright Turkey STFU.
The bombings were because of CHEMICAL WEAPONS, which I don’t 100 percent believe was used by the Syrians. But whatever. That’s done.
We ARE NOT fighting Syria for Turkey, who let ISIS flow back and forth through their country like water and watched from their tanks as kurds desperately fought ISIS AND bought ISIS oil.
You shouldn’t even be in NATO you extremist sick muslim country.
I just saw a strange airplane.
I live in the Florida Panhandle. I was sitting on my porch watching a couple of commercial airliners probably from Panama City. They were both headed roughly NW but in slightly different directions.
As they faded in the distance, I saw another approaching from just slightly South of West and headed just barely North of East. It immediately struck me as different from the others. First it appeared to be going much faster and second, it just looked different.
I was viewing through good Nikon Tropical 7X50 binoculars and it looked almost like a cruise missile but more probably a large drone. I realize a cruise missile could not start from my area and reach any interesting place.
I took two quick photos but it was so far away that they are little more than blobs. I will upload one anyway and post it just in case anyone can recognize what it is.
I do want to stress just how fast it was moving tho I never heard a sonic boom.
Turks are pigs.
F-22 out of Tyndall?
What did pigs ever do to you? :)
Cropped to an extreme degree and like I said hardly more than a blob but just maybe someone recognizes what it is.
It was much clearer through the binocular but definitely not an F-22 out of Tyndall or an F-35 from Eglin.
This is just Assad converting more ISIS fighters into innocent civilians.
Re your post 2: Yeah! Sums it up pretty well.
Turkey and Saud want to play “Let’s you and him fight”.
Trump may have done this more for the Chinese and the Norks, as an example of how he won’t be pushed too far. The Chinese proverb that fits here is: “Kill the chicken and let the monkey watch.”
Let’s him and you fight. :) I like that.
Yeah if the missile attack dies here and the missiles sent a message, great.
If Syria doesn’t use chems again, then it’s business as usual.
#### Turkey and the 9/11 murderers, the sauds.
Well... I see a large wing.... maybe a messed-up flight plan and somebody had to move fast.
I guess the jet stream is blowing that way too. I remember once flying from Tulsa to Atlanta and the pilot told us we were going to be early because we had a tail wind really blowing.
That statement makes no sense. Is that cognitive dissonance coming from Turkey or AP?
Also, int’l VIPs to MarALago have to be gotten up and out of the traffic a little quicker.
If all I had to go on was the picture I’d say it was an MD-80. But you said it was going a lot faster, so I don’t know.
A small private jet?
OK. I just looked up an MD-80 and am no longer excited. I think that is what it was. The fact that it was flying almost left to right instead of away from me as the other airliners were, probably gave an illusion of much faster speed.
The only thing the view through the binoculars seemed different was the fuselage looked almost totally parallel except for the tail and nose.
