MSNBCs Brian Williams came under fire Friday for coming up with another broadcast beauty during his coverage of the US strike on Syria.
Williams who was famously bounced from his NBC gig for fabricating stories was apparently mesmerized by the sight of cruise missiles blazing through the night sky.
We see these beautiful pictures at night from the decks of these two UN Navy vessels in the eastern Mediterranean, Williams told his viewers on The 11th Hour.
I am tempted to quote the great Leonard Cohen: I am guided by the beauty of our weapons, he added. They are beautiful pictures of fearsome armaments making what is for them what is a brief flight over to this airfield.
He then asked his guest, What did they hit?
The talking head was quoting from First We Take Manhattan, Cohens song from 1987:
Im guided by a signal in the heavens Im guided by this birthmark on my skin Im guided by the beauty of our weapons First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin.
The musician, who died in November at age 82, had described the work in 1988 as a response to terrorism. Theres something about terrorism that Ive always admired.
The fact that there are no alibis or no compromises. That position is always very attractive. I dont like it when its manifested on the physical plane I dont really enjoy the terrorist activities but Psychic Terrorism, he said.

What a nut job.
“UN Navy?” Really?
Maybe he was referring to the quality of the video. It really was quite good.
So many fools in this old world.
Was he broadcasting from Colorado? LOL!
It was late night, he must be drunk.
Next thing you now, Brian Williams will be saying...
This ain’t no party, this ain’t no disco
This ain’t no fooling around
No time for dancing, or lovey dovey
I ain’t got time for that now
Most celebrity types are fools. Cohen was a talented one.
(With Jennifer Warnes and SRV)
You know Jeff, when a person states something as bad as what I just quoted, I don’t really care how talented they are/were.
This isn’t a slam at you at all. This is directed at him.
In terrorism from a few to millions of people are affected. Some are just blown to bits, or killed some other Satanic way. Others are severely wounded to live out a life of pain, deformity, and inability to function as they did. Others are caused to fear living their life as they would like.
When a person goes over this line, I cease to appreciate anything they may have done that could be seen as wholesome.
I’d rather they join the victims of terrorism, six feet under. They can admire that fate on the way to it.
“I am tempted to quote the great Leonard Cohen ...” Ugh
From the Jennifer Warner Famous Blue Raincoat album, Leonard Cohen's “First We Take Manhattan”.
Great, great album. Ditto this song by Cohen.

His act last night is what happens when he thin...um, ... when the delusion synapses fire again, causing him to remember that he's a legend [in his own mind], capable of going "off copy".
One of the cruise missiles buzzed the helicopter he was riding in........
Williams: “I was on the ground in Syria this evening, when these beautiful sparkly things came out of nowhere! They were so beautiful! Then, they made this loud boom and scared the sh*t out of me! But, they were sure beautiful!”
Come on, cut him a little slack.
Probably has psychosomatic PTSD from the pretend war he was never in.
