The United States launched dozens of cruise missiles Thursday night at a Syrian airfield in response to what it believes was the Syrian government's use of banned chemical weapons blamed for having killed at least 100 people on Tuesday, U.S. military officials told NBC News.
The U.S. military fired at least 50 Tomahawk missiles intended for a single target — Ash Sha'irat in Homs province in western Syria, the officials said.

I just have to hope Trump is five chess moves ahead on this. My initial reaction was not good, but if it's a limited strike, somehow it may interrupt Assad's behavior. It seems that's all these dictators respect. Interesting Trump does the strike while he's dining with the communist dictator of China. China has it's eyes on Taiwan.
It's done now folks. Trump's promoting it as a limited strike, a message. He may be right. I'm in a wait and see mode now. We all have no idea of the intelligence he was presented with, no idea. I have to hope our military has valid competent intelligence, despite all our misgivings about the CIA.

I haven’t been around these parts in a while, and came tonight wanting to be around FRiends in the wake of this development. I’m glad to see your comment as I thought I may have inadvertently gotten lost in the ether on the way here! I certainly didn’t expect some of the things I’m hearing on this thread - nor on the other Breaking News thread about the airstrikes. I thought FR supported Trump (or that most did)? These comments DO seem to be peppered with Dem talking points!
I don’t expect cheerleading at a time such as this, but was hoping to find thought-provoking commentary, and sharing of information like how it used to be... I hope that will be forthcoming soon. I’m currently out of the loop, so to speak, so I’ll have to wait for others with better insight who may already be sleeping, or otherwise engaged right now!
In the meantime I guess I’ll just go back to praying for favorable outcomes, and praying for any innocent lives caught and lost in the crossfire.

I’ve seen several indications that it was actually chlorine gas.
way too many nervous nellies here tonight. I watched Newt’s take on this incident and that’s good enough for me. I’ll hold my judgment until we see how things settle out.
