Republicans invoked the "nuclear option" in the Senate Thursday, unilaterally rewriting the chamber's rules to allow President Donald Trump's nominee to ascend to the Supreme Court.
Furious Democrats objected until the end, but their efforts to block Judge Neil Gorsuch failed as expected. Lawmakers of both parties bemoaned the long-term implications for the Senate, the court and the country....

Its never necessary for the Democrats. There’s always a bunch of Republicans voting for the Dems nominee no matter how bad they are.
the actual vote which happens tomorrow.
Actually, I'm not sure this is good. A real lot of Republicans in DC are phonies. Now they'll be able to reach 50 without depending on conservatives. We have to hope that Trump stays firm if anyone else comes up, he chooses a pro-Constitution conservative.
I sincerely believe that when Gorsuch gets confirmed to the Supreme Court by the Senate that the Trumo Aministration will start pounding away at rogue judges like the ones infesting the 9th Circuit.
The Turtle has balls. Who knew?
Somewhere Jeb weeps.
Hurray! Congratulations to Judge Gorsuch, who will surely be confirmed in tomorrow’s vote.
“times werent so outraged when they repeatedly threatened to do the same thing. Multiple times”
I read a figure earlier in the week that stated the dems have used in nuclear option 11 times.
And on to the confirmation and then fill ALL those hundreds of vacant judgeships with quality Constitution-supporting people. that will go a long way toward fixing the current mess.
Just returning the rules to the way they were before Reid.
No chance. Unless they die. Ginsburg will never step down now.
Democrats wanted to obstruct, so they are to blame for the rule change, not the GOP.
Democrats have long stopped going by the rules.
True.
True.
The dems set the stage and ultimately stabbed themselves in the back on this one.
NOW the SCOTUS will/has become the #1 consuming priority of every single Federal government election President & Senate rendering all other issues irrelevant.
Donald Trump is a prophet: "If you really like Donald Trump, that's great, but if you don't, you have to vote for me anyway. You know why? Supreme Court judges, Supreme Court judges. You have no choice, sorry, sorry, sorry. You have no choice,"
So when does he get confirmed?
They can always change it back.
Tim Kaine said as much.
