Flame suit on. This is short term thinking. What happens if a Dem becomes president?

I don’t know what the alternative is for now however.

They're going to do it anyway, no matter what the Republicans do.

Not having the Safety Exit of a filibuster will make voters THINK TWICE about electing a Dem as President IMHO. Voters must now LIVE with the CONSEQUENCES of their VOTE!

Flame suit not needed, your brand of stupid is not subject to flame throwing...pity is required.

Just look at what happened when any demonRAT was pResident, they always got their pick of justices.

Well the fillibuster in the past didn't stop Ginsburg, Sotomoyer or Kagan, so it would never stop any bat crap crazy lib.

The same thing that would have happened in any case. When they needed the nuclear option Harry Reid chose it. The next Dem leader would have done the same.

You do realize that no Supreme Court appointment has ever been filibustered? Clarence Thomas only received 52 votes.

The option of a filibuster for Supreme Court only came about in 2003 with a rule change.

I don’t understand the logic of that concern. The Democrats had already announced they would be pursuing the same thing in their expected Dem majority and Hillary presidency. So if this rule had not been changed, and we allowed Republican Supreme Court nominees to be blocked, the only thing that would have accomplished would be to block Republican Supreme Court nominees while Democrat nominees would go ahead and sail on through and full up the Court where Republican nominees would have instead been sitting.

Nothing different - because the Dems would then go nuclear anyway.

Well, the pubs have never filibustered a Supreme Court nominee, so the issue is moot. Kegan and what’s her name were not filibustered even though they could have.
