Turbulence can be an uncomfortable and unpleasant experience. And climate change is about to make it an increasingly common one, according to a new study.
Using supercomputer simulations of the atmosphere, researchers at the University of Reading, in England, looked at the future of severe turbulence.
"Our new study paints the most detailed picture yet of how aircraft turbulence will respond to climate change," Paul Williams, who undertook the research, said in a statement.
"For most passengers, light turbulence is nothing more than an annoying inconvenience that reduces their comfort levels, but for nervous fliers even light turbulence can be distressing," Williams added.
"However, even the most seasoned frequent fliers may be alarmed at the prospect of a 149% increase in severe turbulence, which frequently hospitalizes air travelers and flight attendants around the world."

my computer model says that the turbulence increase will be from all the mile high club inductions occurring due to global warming...
don’t they have radar to detect severe turbulence conditions...
“could”
An average of the speculation of range of WAGs by fund-starved researchers.
In this day and age, there simply isn’t enough money or time in that industry to justify long term legitimate work or ‘research’....just more rehashed speculative crap about rehashed speculative, unsupported ‘data’ that are questionable at best. The end goal STILL being, “The Quest for the Inexhaustible Funds.”
Next month? Try tomorrow! Maybe even later today!
“:Climate change could increase severe turbulence by 149 percent, study says”
149? Not 150? Must be TRUE because they are so precise. NOT!
or not

Not only that, but monkeys could fly out of Hillary Clinton's rear end.
See - I can be a 'scientist' also.
I like the phony three significant figures with which this guess-ulation has been issued. GIGO to the extreme.
Sure it could. It could also decrease turbulence by 149 percent.
If I’m remembering what I read in “The Satanic Gases” some years ago, the reality is that warming should lead to less turbulence & tornado-type storms. It’s the effect of cold air masses bumping into warm air that causes such situations. If the temperature in the atmosphere is raised resulting in fairly uniform temperature, those differential conditions go away. No more storms or turbulence.
Well, actually as we begin to fly in smaller planes due to the need to become more fuel efficient to save the planet, felt turbulence will probably increase as smaller planes are affected more than larger ones. Now, a 150% increase, that is something. Maybe we should build a fleet of planes that fly above the weather, say at 60K feet? With the decrease in the size of the ozone hole (remember that scare from 30 years ago) it should be safer then flying through this increase in severe turbulence, turbulence which by its very description is so dangerous that the FAA will not allow flying through it.
149% huh? Maybe that explains it. I was on an international flight last week, and the turbulence was so bad, the Captain had to come on the intercom, and tell us all to relax, it was just some rough turbulence, and that there was nothing wrong with the aircraft. I didn't think, however, that it was 149% worse, than any turbulence I had ever experienced before. 😀😄
It doesn’t matter. Only “seaplanes” will be flying, as the entire arctic circle will melt, flood the land, and there will be no airports available for landing.

That’s nothing. I’ve seen supercomputer simulations that show me that superheroes are real, whether Superman, the Avengers or even Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. They’ve discovered that dragons, elves and goblins are real too.
Always wanted to fly in a Boeing 314 “Clipper” too.
Will this occur after the end of snow or the obliteration of New York City by the tidal deluge? By the whackos’ timelines, these two events are supposed to have happened already.
I think it’s actually closer to 148.38327%
(as long as we’re making-up numbers might as well make up a nice juicy one)
Another GW story using the word “could”.
The old baffle them with BS routine. Always good if you don't have a real reply.
Every time I see a story on the so-claimed “effects” of “climate change”, I am more convinced that it’s all a scam.
