That would imply they weren’t always in charge. For all practical purposes? Ivanka and Jarred are the POTUS.

Membership on the NSC entails receiving exclusive classified material for members of the NSC.

The distribution list of NSC reports is tightly controlled and managed.

The Kushners will not see those NSC reports and I think they never will unless the President makes a good case for appointing one or both to the NSC. I don’t see that happening.

***Looks like Ivanka and Jarred are taking over.***

That’s definitely not good.

I googled the terms to get some idea what operationalized intelligence would mean and there are military applications.
https://www.army.mil/article/9045

Operational intelligence has two main foundations:

1) Assessments - “Intel drives ops.” Customized operational intelligence, synthesized with analytical rigor, either enables planning for a specific operational environment or highlights additional requirements for intelligence collection.

2) Missions - “Intel-driven ops.” Intelligence operations conducted primarily to collect information related to priority intelligence requirements, PIRs, or to develop military sources, as opposed to being a secondary objective of other missions.

My take away would be that the focus became mission driven. It would be a stretch to go further but in view of the players it may be that the agency was being used as a tool for the Administration rather than it more generalized original purpose:

The National Security Agency (NSA) is an intelligence organization of the United States federal government responsible for global monitoring, collection, and processing of information and data for foreign intelligence and counterintelligence purposes, a discipline known as signals intelligence (SIGINT).

Could it be that these players are to bring in the little fishies, make them comfortable & let down their guard?

Why does the head of the Dept of Homeland not get to set the agenda for Homeland Security Council meetings unless McMaster gives him the authority at his discretion

OK : )
But actually if you are speeding in the wrong direction & you slow down you are still going in the wrong direction just slower. I think we may be at the start of something a bit better than that.

“Just seeing the headline made me think the same as you.”

Me too. It’s not what happened. What happened is a NOTHINGBURGERE (that’s French for nothingburger}

It was a typo that I thought funny, so I left it. I do also find it funny that spellcheck questions “nothingburger” and doesn’t question “NOTHINGBURGERE”.

I don’t see a downgrade unless Bloomberg is trying to make it seem so. Bossert still has a very important role with the NSC but McMaster can adjust the importance of his role as the President left him the authority.

I don’t see a downgrade for Bossert. I see an upgrade for McMaster.

The only thing that bugs me about McMaster is that neocon NeverTrumper William Kristol was ecstatic to see McMaster brought in weeks ago. That still bus me. But I know the President is in control, so I expect he brought in McMaster because of knowledge, experience, and talent at what he does.

You may indulge your daughter, give her an ear, a space to work on issues that she may be appropriate for but I am not worried that Trump will let her change his plan on anything he thinks is essential. She may color it a bit but the buck stops with Trump.
