A small jet has crashed about two miles south of Joint Base Andrews, a fire official said about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The pilot ejected from the plane using a parachute and first responders have located that pilot. That persons’s condition is unknown.
The aircraft is an F-16, NBC News’ Tom Costello confirmed.
The plane appears to have gone down in a wooded area in the 4200 block of Steed Road in Clinton, Maryland. Some roads are closed in the area.

Maybe there’s something to the reports that Navy pilots are refusing to fly aircraft they deem unsafe. Recent reports of non airworthy aircraft and other declining military equipment may grow some wings with obama gone after decimating the military.

DEVELOPING – A military fighter jet that left Joint Base Andrews Wednesday morning crashed about two miles south.
US Air Force officials told Fox News that an F-16 from DC National Guard went down south of National Harbor in Maryland near Andrews Air Force Base.
The pilot inside ejected safely and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The pilot's condition is unknown.
"The pilot ejected safely in an unpopulated area. More information will be provided as it's available," a US Air Force official told Fox News.
Prince George County firefighters confirmed on Twitter they were responding to a fighter jet crash in the Clinton, Maryland area
