Designer Who Dressed Melania Trump for White House Portrait Tells Critics to ‘Go to Hell’
The Wrap ^ | April 4, 2017 | Umberto Gonzalez

The White House released Melania Trump’s first official portrait on Monday, and Italian designer Stefano Gabbana is cool with the fact that she is rocking a Dolce & Gabbana blazer — on top of the fact that she wore a massive diamond ring reportedly worth $3 million. The designer defended FLOTUS and told Instagram trolls who chided him for working with her to “go to hell.”

Gabbana took to his personal Instagram account to post Trump’s portrait, taken by Belgian-born photographer Régine Mahaux, with the caption, “#DGWoman BEAUTIFUL #melaniatrump Thank you #madeinitaly,” and a mix of heart emojis and the American and Italian flag emojis...

Good for him!!

“The Wrap” takes a few shots at her expensive ring.

Cause the Clintons have no money.

I can’t help it if she chooses to dress like a pauper in ragtag pant suits.

I like this story.

Well done. I’m not sure what the guy’s political stand is (I don’t know a think about him) but I like the way he has responded.

Good guy, I think.

Kinda ticking me off. Premium stuff not affordable to regular people. I can’t afford to support them. Damnit, get something in Walmart. ;-) Costco if you want to be fancy but damn. You have idiots as business people / brand managers. D&G is premium... D is Walmart... G is Costco.

I hate idiots.

Oh yuck—Hillary in those gawd awful pantsuits. Why any designer would claim credit for those, I don’t know.

The designers refusing to dress Melania are utter fools. First, it’s ridiculously easy to make her look good. Second, they’ll see a spike in sales.

No business sense.

That article clears up one thing for me. Some people said she “only” had a 12-carat ring, while others say it’s a 25-carat ring. Article states that the Donald gave her the 25-carat ring for their 10th anniversary to replace the older 12-carat ring. Now what is she going to get for their 15th? Or 20th? How do you outdo a 25-carat ring!

This man is a hero not to be intimidated by the most intolerant and abusive people on the face of the earth right now. They are ignorant and vile in their attack of this most beautiful woman who is living her life where she is planted and doing nothing to the losers out there who cannot control their rage and envy, much of which is probably being generated by some kind of substance. They are trying to pseudo murder (eliminate) her and anyone who supports her because she is special and has the attributes to become a role model. The radical women hate her for that reason alone. I hope D & G sales go through the roof. The diamond ring may be hated more for it’s symbolism of a woman who is loved by her husband than for it’s value. Everyone knows Trump is rich and can afford that. I love the fact that he is rich because that means he cannot be bought by the bad guys who are trying to foment a government cartel in America. Millions of us are so simply fed up with the low-lifers here and will sign up when the real war begins. Attacks on women and children are the proof that evil cannot go lower.

The “critics” are, after all, people who gushingly declared the Mooch a “fashion icon”. They look at that picture and see a ring. Too bad for them.

She isn’t “regular people.” She buys what she likes and pays for it. So do I. So do most people. Why is that a problem for anyone?

"..she wore a massive diamond ring reportedly worth $3 million.."

There's a BIG difference in "cost" and "worth". Especially when it comes to jewelry. But then again in my way of thinking no "decoration" is worth very much. What's the use of it? d:^)

It may have cost $3 million, but the moment Melania touched it, its worth skyrocketed.

I rather suspicion they knew they didn't have a rat's hiney chance of being asked - but got their free advertising by pretending to be above dressing our First Lady

Another reminder that libs are the party of envy.
I’m a woman and I hadn’t noticed her ring when looking at her portrait. What I see is a glow in her face that is the result of happiness.Money can’t buy that.
Perhaps the ring is just a stand in for a contentment libs cannot achieve?

Ask the fans of the rap & sports stars & their wives who regularly sport similar rings while being fawned upon. They broadcast the wearer’s ability to possess something rare. Like an expensive sports car or yacht or mansion.

There is always a gap between *book value* and *market value*. I’m sure Donald knows the difference. If Melania loves diamonds, that’s why he gave her one.

The Trump brand has always been over the top. If Melania suddenly began wearing J. Crew and no jewelry, she would be castigated as a hypocrite or as dull and boring. She may as well do as she likes, since there is no pleasing her critics. The only way she could get approval would be to divorce Donald and then turn on him.
