Which wouldn’t be a bad vocation, but will anyone fork over for a scholarship to an Ivy for that?

Just a “wild guess”. But I’m suspecting the scholarship $$$ follow the acceptance.

I’ve seen too much of this race based $$$ to believe she’s paying much, if anything

but her race 100 percent had all those Ivy League schools falling all over themselves to get her in their school. Let’s be real.

There's been a few stories these past recent years of students who found themselves accepted to all 8 Ivy League schools. They've all been black.

Here's a couple:

Kid who got in to every Ivy League school is going to the University of Alabama — and it's a brilliant decision

He's all-Ivy — accepted to all 8 Ivy League colleges

$400,000? Lets hope so for her sake because she’ll never pay that kind of debt off with a low end job.

My friend’s daughter got into several Ivy League schools but none offered her enough to be able to afford to go. She went out of the country where she did get a full scholarship. And she is doing her dream job right now. Her parents wisely didn’t let her take loans.

She didn’t create the corrupt admissions process, but she will help perpetuate it. Having spent nearly 13 years in Ivy and Ivy-type institutions, I would say that the odds of her getting in to all of those schools on a race-blind, academic basis are very, very small.

I can tell by the name that she’s at least in part of Ibo heritage, the same as my wife’s family. In Nigeria they were the group that allied with the British in the colonial era, accepting Christianity and enthusiastically pursuing British education and commerce. Upon independence, they were brutally treated, many killed, and when that resulted in a civil war for independence, they were crushed, creating a huge diaspora. That diaspora places a great emphasis on education, business and success, and many of their kids turn out just like this apparently talented and accomplished young woman. That their skin color is as dark as any black American disproves the false theory that racism prevents blacks from achieving here.

Black acceptance priveledge?

No one will care to follow her, but I wished her great success in the private sector where I hope she pays boat-loads of taxes.

I have not seen a picture of this student.

Given the state of prejudice and racism in the country, by guess is that she is black, as this would never happen to a white or asian student.

Now I will check. Hope I am wrong.

I have a Nephew who is the smartest person I have ever known personally. One of my best friends is president of Mensa for a large metropolitan area, yet I am sure he is not even close to my Nephew.

He applied to Harvard and was rejected. He went on to get scholarships at other Universities and has done exceedingly well after college.

I would bet by long odds that he is not only smarter than her but way, way smarter.

BTW my Dr. is a Harvard grad. He is sharp but otherwise seems pretty much ordinary.

Do you have children? Would you like any of them to go to an Ivy League school? I think an Ivy League education provides post-graduate benefits in terms of connections and job offers. At least, that’s what I have been told - by friends who went to Ivy League schools.

Hope so.

Because the worst that could happen for her is to be stuck with hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and a low paying job.

A little perspective — how much does an average home cost? $300K-$400K. And how many years does it take a family to pay it off? 30 years.
