A good way to judge how the fake news story about the supposed collusion between the Donald Trump campaign and the Russians is holding up is to take a look at how liberal but skeptical reporter Matt Taibbi of Rolling Stone is covering it.
Almost a month ago on March 8, Taibbi was warning Democrats and the mainstream media to be very wary of this dubious story. Since nothing has been uncovered since then to lend a shred of credibility to this fake news story, Taibbi has progressed to openly mocking those who continue, against all evidence, to desperately hang on to this fairy tale in order to somehow bring President Trump down.
You can get an idea of just how brutal Taibbi's mockery of the Trump-Russia collusion cultists is just by the title of his April 3 Rolling Stone story: Putin Derangement Syndrome Arrives. The subtitle is no less brutal: Whatever the truth about Trump and Russia, the speculation surrounding it has become a dangerous case of mass hysteria.

I was in a waiting room and picked up Rolling Stone to read. As I am a rock musician, I thought that there might actually be some articles about MUSIC in it. But the entire magazine was about “The War on Trump”. Yep...they actually used that phrase.
Taibbi is a hard-core leftist, but he’s got an interesting perspective on this particular story because he lived in Russia for a while and apparently finds this crap both tiresome and destructive to the Democrat agenda.
They left and our ruling oligarchs pursue this fake news because it suits 2 interests at the same time
1) attacking Trump. Maybe that can do some damage or rally the base.
2) even if the attack on Trump fails, they can still push forward the narrative that Russia is an enemy. Leftists/globalists will always hate Russia as long as it resists their borderless, cultural-marxist, Soros-style “new world order.”
There are plenty of people on the right who are also desperately clinging to this fairytale in the hope that they will bring down Trump.
