Just 34% of the public approve of the job President Trump is doing, as his support among Republicans and independents tumbles, according to the April IBD/TIPP poll. Fifty six percent disapprove of the job he's doing. Approval ratings for a president haven't been this low President Bush's last months in office.
Last month, 40% of independents approved of the job Trump is doing; just 29% approve today. Among Republicans, Trump's job approval is 74%, which represents a 14-point decline from last month.
The latest IBD/TIPP poll was taken from March 24-30, and includes responses from 904 people across the country, giving it a margin of error of +/-3.3 percentage points.
Across the board, the poll has bad news for Trump.
He lost significant support among his strongest backers: white men (which dropped from 58% in March to 49% today), and rural America, which went from 56% to 41% today.

I smell the distinct odor of fake news bullship.
Everything else is an attempt at a narrative.
1387 days left for them to get over it.
This poll was way off last year.
Rasmussen and Yougov don’t show any significant changes in the past few weeks.
Trump knows what he is doing...and how to do it.
Trump is our Winston Churchill.
May the good Lord give Donald Trump strength and wisdom.
No worries. Things are going to be fine.
The MSM keep beating the Russia story even though they know there wasn’t any collusion. Pure propaganda and fake news. It does have an effect.
This is the entire purpose of this constant “Russia” drumbeat—to drive down Trump’s poll numbers. The Dems and their friends in the media know they don’t have anything substantive, but repeating that there is an ongoing inquiry every day into this nonsense takes its toll.
November 8, 2016. We who voted for Trump didn’t really put much stock in “polls.” I didn’t do it back then, there is no reason I see a need to now.
On the surface, these polls purport to be informative and ostensibly ‘useful’ to the voter. But the real ‘use’ is in the motives of those that commission, write and conduct them, and far worse, what conclusions and recommendations are taken from them.
As far as I’m concerned, the very second some campaign wonk figured out how to ‘push-poll’ and design-for-result is when they became useless. IMO, the days of the ‘poll’ are over.
Yes how could we take seriously polls after the job the polls did in regard to the election?
Hillary can’t even see Trump in her rearview mirror.
The coronation in November is assured.
Polls said Trump could not win. They are crap.
Someone asked me yesterday if I was nervous about the low poll numbers and non stop negative news narrative. I told them nope. I could care less if he drops to 1%. He’s president for four years and Hillary isn’t. At minimum, even if nothing legislatively gets passed, the courts become more conservative, the beauracracy become less liberal, and regulations become less burdensome.
If you listen to the MSM, Trump isn't Hitler any longer, but now is completely ineffective. (Scott Adams says that going from Hitler to ineffective is one of the greatest successes of any President!)
The "ineffective" part is likely to change, as Gorsuch is confirmed -- one way or another -- this week, and Obamacare is repealed over the next few weeks. Then tax reform becomes front and center.
It would be gravy if one or more of Obama's tools is indicted! Won't happen? This is not the Bush Administration!
The old media empire is still alive, yet few people realize, what that really means.
Who in the hell are they polling!!
... and Hillary still is not President and never will be.
Best election ever.
They say so - so it must be true...
