WASHINGTON -- Today, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt signed an order denying a petition that sought to ban chlorpyrifos, a pesticide crucial to U.S. agriculture.
We need to provide regulatory certainty to the thousands of American farms that rely on chlorpyrifos, while still protecting human health and the environment, said EPA Administrator Pruitt. By reversing the previous Administrations steps to ban one of the most widely used pesticides in the world, we are returning to using sound science in decision-making rather than predetermined results.
This is a welcome decision grounded in evidence and science, said Sheryl Kunickis, director of the Office of Pest Management Policy at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). It means that this important pest management tool will remain available to growers, helping to ensure an abundant and affordable food supply for this nation and the world. This frees American farmers from significant trade disruptions that could have been caused by an unnecessary, unilateral revocation of chlorpyrifos tolerances in the United States. It is also great news for consumers, who will continue to have access to a full range of both domestic and imported fruits and vegetables. We thank our colleagues at EPA for their hard work.
In October 2015, under the previous Administration, EPA proposed to revoke all food residue tolerances for chlorpyrifos, an active ingredient in insecticides. This proposal was issued in response to a petition from the Natural Resources Defense Council and Pesticide Action Network North America. The October 2015 proposal largely relied on certain epidemiological study outcomes, whose application is novel and uncertain, to reach its conclusions.

I'm no farmer, and can barely garden, but I'm thinking the previous methodology for determining the safety of this stuff was a bunch of bunk and hype, as noted in the press release. The whole thing sort of reminds me of the fear mongering associated with DDT back in the day......
Always wonder what the liberals end game when it comes to an issue like this... do they really want higher-priced produce ? Or is it really all about attacking conservatives?
It’s about communism. It is ALWAYS about communism.
Green is Red.
And so is every other “liberal” cause celebre`. Anything to undermine our great civilization so they can take over.
Is it a nano cide that is killing the bee”s! If the bee’s are all dieing, which they are. No food for you!!!! This is not ddt. Not a liberal, just a human.

E.P.A. Recommends Limits on Thousands of Uses of Pesticides

Funny thing. I have a farmer friend that has honey bees as a hobby. The last few years he cant have a hive as they all die off by mid to late summer.
He has a wind farm close to his place and he thinks that they have something to do with it since he never lost hives until that thing cranked up.
Maybe.
Looks like.....................More Winning!
It could be about population control. Just starve people to death until the goal of some liberals of a world population of 500M is achieved.
#1 I’m thinking the previous methodology for determining the safety of this stuff was a bunch of bunk and hype....
We should test the pesticides on prisoners first to make sure they are safe for the farmer to use : )
Thanks for posting this. Nice to have a win on a Sunday evening.
Now, EPA, about dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane...
Colony Collapse Disorder. This has gotten a lot of attention from an investigative reporter named Linda Moulton Howe.
Ms Howe has made numerous appearances on George Noory’s Coast to Coast radio show.
Liberate DDT!
Water melon environmentalism?
Green on the outside, but Commie Red at the Core.
Libs hate farmers like they hate every other business.
Collectivizing the farms into kohlkohzim and other “organized” collectives was one of the ways Stalin took control over the farms. Control the farm = control the people.
He has a wind farm close to his place and he thinks that they have something to do with it since he never lost hives until that thing cranked up.
Maybe.
Given the number of wind turbines that have been built - and are yet to be built - on or near prime agricultural land, this is a subject that should be seriously researched. By real scientists, not a bunch of petulant children.
I do not support anything contributing to the massive epidemics of neurodegenerative diseases in our elderly (and not so elderly!) and neurological damage to our babies and children. We have unprecedented numbers of kids with neurological problems (including all the gender differences). We simply MUST have options to opt out from herbicides and pesticides.
Winning!
Remember Alar? another DDT-like story.
