House Freedom Caucus Member Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) urged President Trump to continue working with the caucus, because they have been a staunch ally of his throughout his tenure.
Gohmert said on "Sunday Morning Futures" that Trump and the Freedom Caucus came to agreements twice during the ObamaCare replacement negotiations, but that "establishment" figures convinced the president to rebuff them.
snipRepublican 'establishment' leaders like Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Chief of Staff Reince Priebus "had a meeting" and decided to "go to war against the people that defended the president, when Ryan and those guys abandoned him," Gohmert said.

“Somehow I dont think having Jared and Ivanka as his primary advisors is going to help him to get that.”....... meanwhile, the future of the United States hangs on a thread....
I believe the expression wanted is “you should dance with the one who brought you.”
Trump promised over and over and over again to fully REPEAL Obamacare, and every single Republican voted for it when OBAMA was in office and they knew it’d go nowhere. Outside of the border wall (which is a promise he’s ALSO breaking), full repeal was Trump’s biggest PROMISE to Americans.
Yawn.
When you’re done lying like the Freedom Caucus did, I’ll listen to you.
Until then, verpis dich.
I’d believe the HFC people more if they admitted that the HFC ever did anything less than total perfect conservatism.
You want a cult of personality, look in the other direction too, because they get treated as reincarnations of Jesus by some people.
“... if they admitted that the HFC ever did anything less than total perfect conservatism.”
The word ‘conservative’ has become somewhat meaningless. Fortunately, that is not what HFC stands for, the F is for Freedom. Today, fewer and fewer conservatives value America’s primary principle - which is Freedom, not loyalty to a party or to any particular flawed man. And, yes, of course individual HFC members are flawed too like Trump and all men. Just not in the same ways.
“You want a cult of personality, ...”
I think you are mixing apples and oranges. If you were to say the HFC is a cult of principle, then I would agree with you. And would applaud them.
“...they get treated as reincarnations of Jesus by some people.”
I’ve not observed such behavior and I have to believe most HFC members, even if not Christian, understand that Christ, nor anyone else, will EVER be reincarnated. To believe such a thing would be like someone at FreeRepublic believing that Republican spawned federal entitlement/dependency programs are the route to Freedom. It is sacrilege.
However, your ironic reference to Christ can be instructive here. If you simply recall that He was very much an enemy of the establishment, like the HFC, and similarly bore the mantle of Freedom.
Louie gets away with saying things that others could not because he sounds like a character from Hee Haw.If you listen to what he say, he is no different than the rest. The Freedom Caucus must have gotten bombed by phone calls because they are quietly walking back their position - which for all of us is a good thing.
Face it, the RNC is led by cowards.
I would bet the percentage of Freedom Caucus members who were #nevertrumpers is much lower than the percentage of RINOs who were #nevertrumpers
