He also reminded Todd of the obvious fact that if the roles were reversed, Democrats would have wanted to hold off on a Republican presidents nominee. And the Republicans would have insisted on hearings and a confirmation. Neither side has any business accusing the other of hypocrisy.

I honestly believe they should have had hearings and put him up for a vote...exposed how bad an idea he was...and voted him DOWN. The problem...as McConnell saw...was they could trust the GOP to stay in unison. So...he invented a cover story.
