More people are leaving the New York region than any other major metropolitan area in the country.
More than 1 million people moved out of the New York area to another part of the country since 2010, a rate of 4.4 percent the highest negative net migration rate among the nations large population centers, US Census records show.
The number of people leaving the region which includes parts of New Jersey, Connecticut, the lower Hudson Valley and Long Island in one year swelled from 187,034 in 2015 to 223,423 in 2016, while the number of international immigrants settling in the tri-state area dwindled from 181,551 to 160,324 over the same period, records show.

Build a fence and keep them in the northeast, they are ruining Virginia.
They migrate with their poor left wing politics.
They are even fleeing to TX. We aren’t happy.
Well, we could all ask ourselves — would you want to live in New York???
Unless you have some unique job such as an executive position on Wall Street, which compels you to live there, I can’t imagine ever wanting to live there, personally.
Ruining Georgia and Florida too. The ruined NY but are too stupid and arrogant to understand it’s their liberal voting habits that turned NY into the obnoxious sh!thole that they’re fleeing.
The common cry of the liberal: “This state sucks! Taxes and property values are too damn high and it isn’t safe! I’m gonna to a better state like Texas, and then I’m going to vote in people like the ones I voted in in New York! What could go wrong?”
This reminds me of a topic once discussed here — how many of us live in places we chose to live in, compared to how many of us live in places where we were born and raised? How many of us made an actual choice of where to move to, compared to how many of us have jobs or careers which are found only in certain places, and that the job determines where we live? How many of us live somewhere because we followed a spouse to his/her hometown or place of residence? How many of us went away to college somewhere, and settled in that locale afterwards???
Locusts.
They’ve eaten their own place into insolvency so they’re migrating to greener fields to repeat the process.
Unless you have some unique job such as an executive position on Wall Street, which compels you to live there, I cant imagine ever wanting to live there, personally.
(that coulda' been me in the zip-up jacket & khakis)
Based upon all of the news about New York City that is happening under the current mayor, why would a sane conservative person want to stay there?
Won’t they be surprised to find they will not have the same generous hand-outs like they once did in NY.
“Alarming” for whom? Only for the New York taxman.
Yeah, I’m alarmed they may show up here and we’ll get the “That’s not how we did it in New York so let’s change it.” types. We’re already getting calibfornicated enough with that.
I bet the Muzies are staying.
Rent and real estate prices are skyrocketing in Florida due to the exodus from these liberal sh*t holes.
I had hope to move down there before.
Now I won’t only have to deal with high housing prices but brain dead liberal policies.
I welcome sane conservatives who move out. The problem is, most leftists can’t put two and two together enough to realize that the same liberal policies they voted for are what made their former place unlivable. If they could understand cause and effect, they wouldn’t be leftists in the first place. Since most of them don’t get it, they just go for the same old thing, wherever they relocate.
