The Washington political establishment took its first conservative scalp of the cycle with the recent defeat of Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.), an outspoken member of the House Freedom Caucus. This race is being used as a playbook to target other members of the group of about 40 fiscal and constitutional conservatives in the lower chamber, and those sharpening their knives arent shy about it. Members of the House Freedom Caucus are a rare breed in Washington. They believe in free-market principles, reject cronyist policies that take advantage of taxpayers, and fight for constitutionally limited government. Occasionally, these convictions put them at odds with Republican leaders, who are often eager to cut deals with the White House and Democrats, and with Beltway insiders. Parasitic, rent-seeking special interests including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce spent more than $3 million to smear Huelskamp and boost his primary opponent, Roger Marshall, who raised nearly $1.1 million on his own. House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and others in the House Republican leadership refused to offer public support for Huelskamp or place him back on the House Agriculture Committee, from which he was unceremoniously removed for courageously standing up for conservative principles when John Boehner wielded the speakers gavel...

The handful of freepers continuously spreading lies about the HFC will not be ignored. They are the good guys. Of course, Ryan disagrees, along with other swamp dwellers, apparently including some here.
HFC is just the GOPe posturing and playing around with definitions. Same with the former “Tea Party Caucus” of Bachmann’s.
I will walk from this party if it goes after conservatives....they are the only reason I vote Republican. The party will have left me behind in their rush to be democrats.
Got that right. God bless the Freedom Caucus.
The House Freedom Caucus is not a cancer in Congress, its the future of our movement

As much as I oppose TrumpCare and as much as I would love to support the HFC, we gotta realize these guys are dead men walking.
“The future of our movement”? Yep. Dead in a year.
Of the 30 some odd HFC members, only 18 remain fully opposed to TrumpCare.
Face it. Conservatives lost the battle with regard to healthcare. I hate that. You hate that.
But it’s time to move on.
Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. It's time to give up and move on....
Something happened since last September, you know. So this is pretty much old news. The Republican Party is under new management.
The FC members who haven’t quit officially and otherwise, or who are not of the hive mind, are nevertrumpers and always have been. They lost with Cruz and they are going to keep on losing.
So it’s your take that there has been 205 Conservative Congressmen in the House, and only 30 GOPe Leftists.
LOL
I mean seriously, bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha...
The Tea Party movement is alive and well and will out live and last longer than any politician in office. Including Trump.
Yeah, gun rights are so passe.
Time to move on...
Not sure if you meant to reply to me, Doughty, but like Bachmann’s Tea Party Caucus, the HFC has done nothing.
Did Tea Party Caucus die the same time HFC was born? I’d think so. Impotent posers.
Good analogy. We lost the battle at Pearl Harbor. We won the war.
So conservatives lost the battle over healthcare. I remain committed to Trump to win the battle over other (and may I say more important ) aspects of liberalism.
Undoing the last terrible eight years of the Obama Regime may take decades.
I look at what LBJ did to America with his Great Society some 50 years ago. We are still not over the damage he caused. And we may never get over it.
“Problem with the HFC is they voted for Ryno, which gave him the power and money to eliminate and marginalize them. So the HFC either grows a set or gets wiped out by Ryno. Time for HFC to act to remove Ryno, bring to the floor the repeal bill the RINOS put on Obamas desk or admit they dont have the votes to do jackshit and watch their seats go bye bye via votes of the conservative base in the next primary.””
Thank you.
The Freedom group are good men, but in the real world - once something is given to millions, say by Obama through Obamacare, it’s really impossible to take it back without turning into the bad guy or gal that will not be re-elected. So, Ryan had it right and the Freedom boys screwed it up.
It’s all about compromising or moving to.....
Do you have Attention Deficit Disorder?
I’m speaking about healthcare. And you interrupt with gun rights?
Oh look. A squirrel.
I was all for the HFC killing RyanTrumpCare. Where they went wrong was not putting a better repeal/replace plan out there.
I am really concerned about the psychosis gripping this place. Just because the Freedom Caucus had the temerity to say no to a bad bill that had Trump’s blessing people want to make conservatives in Congress extinct.
Trump is not always right and not every objection to his actions is treason.
Watching Free Republic become the cheering section for Ryan and the RINOs is distressing to say the least.
Ryan and the RINOs are the creatures of the swamp.
Wrong.
The HFC is not a GOPe effort.
Ryancare was the GOPe effort, and it astounds me to see so many people unable to recognize that.
Why wasn’t the Paul plan that passed in 2015 and was on Obama’s desk in 2016, not passed again?
The GOPe didn’t want any part of it.
The HFC didn’t want any part of Obamacare Lite. I agree with them wholeheartedly.
