Flynn offers to testify on Russia for immunity

President Trump's former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn has reportedly told the FBI that he is willing to testify about the Trump campaign's potential ties to Russia, in exchange for immunity from prosecution, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

ADVERTISEMENT Flynn resigned in February, after it was reported that he misled White House staff on his interactions with Russia and had discussed sanctions with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak ahead of President Trump's inauguration.

The Journal reported, citing officials familiar with the matter, that the FBI and the House and Senate Intelligence committees that are investigating Russia's attempts to interfere in the U.S. election have not taken his lawyers up on the offer.

Flynn's lawyer said in a statement that “General Glynn certainly has a story to tell, and he very much wants to tell it, should the circumstances permit.”

“Notwithstanding his life of national service, the media are awash with unfounded allegations, outrageous claims of treason, and vicious innuendo directed against him. He is now the target of unsubstantiated public demands by Members of Congress and other political critics that he be criminally investigated,” Flynn’s lawyer Robert Kelner said in a statement.

-- Yep, this is their next smoke and mirrors story, so they can continue to ignore all things Nunes. --

Yep.

Mike Flynn should ask for immunity in that this is a witch hunt (excuse for big election loss), by media & Dems, of historic proportion!

So lets try to clear this...so I can copy and paste this in the future.

Flynn lawyer did not use the word immunity. This sent everyone into their fake news mode of posting .

So tell me all...how will Flynn be guaranteed he won’t be unfairly prosecuted. THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE GUARANTEE WITHOUT IMMUNITY.

What mechanism could be used to give Flynn his absolute guarantee that he won’t face unfair prosecution????

Other than immunity.

Assuming he's committed no crime, the best protection is a sensible prosecutor.

Something is afoot. I haven't figured out the angle yet. The press will continue to insinuate that Flynn has perpetrated a crime, that's the hole that this angle is designed to dig. But I don't see the benefit of it, unless it is simply to goad the DEMs into securing public testimony from Flynn.

Would you rely on a sensible prosecutor before you went to Congress in any environment...let alone this one. His lawyer would be an idiot if he didnt tell him to get immunity.

There is no doubt that there was talk of kidnapping someone Turkey wants. It is unclear the amount of detail in the plot for the kidnapping.

Sure...shadowy people have kidnapped people on US soil in the past for the US government. ...that won’t be an excuse .

Flynn has to get immunity before he says a word.

Not a hostile Congress, no. But some environments, sure. Otherwise everybody demands immunity in exchange for testimony, and that includes the likes of Comey, Mccabe, Farkas, and so on down the line.

Oliver North played Congress like a fiddle. Good example. If there is a crime, that's for investigators other than Congress to deal with. Congress is not in charge of enforcing the laws.

The land mine when testifying before Congress is that the testimony is available to investigators and prosecutors, those who DO enforce the laws. This is only an issue when a law was broken.

As for any plans to "exceptionally rendition" Fethullah Gulen at Turkey's behest, Flynn could assert "state secret." I doubt Congress would want to open that can of worms. Ever notice how these Congressional inquiries manage to avoid the really meaningful questions? They know how dirty the US is and they are complicit.
