Trump just approved the Keystone XL pipeline. It’s stupid to complain about a trade deficit with your NAFTA partners while at the same time you’re approving pipelines to make it easier to sell us their oil.
I think the goal is to become as Middle-East free of oil and gas reserves as we can get.
While it could be said the oil coming from Canada does compete with domestic product and jobs here, I have mixed thoughts on using up all our oil pulled from under our soil.
It’s all a strategic reserve to me. Let the rest of the world supply our oil until their reserves are weakened. Then use our own when the rest of the planet is hurting.
I do want to be mostly independent of other nations. It’s a balancing act IMO. Use mostly our own and lessen the full amount by importing more product.
I don’t want massive foreign deficit spending.
