That Was Then But This Is Now

That Was Then But This Is Now

1. LOCK HER UP.

Donald Trump Then:

After FBI Director James Comey in July recommended not charging Clinton, Trump cited it as evidence the election was “rigged” and said the FBI “rolled over.”

He pledged to appoint a special prosecutor, and even told Clinton during a debate that if he were president, “you’d be in jail.”

Donald Trump Now:

But after he won the election, Trump said he wouldn’t recommend prosecuting Clinton, saying she already “suffered greatly” and that it’s “just not something I feel very strongly about.”

Trump was speaking in Grand Rapids, Mich., as part of his “thank you” tour when he heard some chants of “lock her up” - a common refrain during his campaign events.

“That plays great before the election - now we don't care, right?” Trump responded, according to CNN.

2. DACA

Donald Trump Then:

Opposed DACA and DAPA and called Obama's executive orders on DACA and DAPA “one of the most unconstitutional actions ever undertaken by a President.” –

“We will immediately terminate President Obama’s two illegal executive amnesties in which he defied federal law and the constitution to give amnesty to approximately 5 million illegal immigrants,” Trump said at an August speech in Arizona, where immigration hard-liner Joe Arpaio introduced him.

Donald Trump Now:

“They got brought here at a very young age, they’ve worked here, they’ve gone to school here. Some were good students. Some have wonderful jobs. And they’re in never-never land because they don’t know what’s going to happen,” Trump said in an interview with Time.

In an interview that aired Wednesday, Trump said DACA participants shouldn't be "very worried."

“They shouldn’t be very worried, I do have a big heart. We’re going to take care of everybody, we’re going to have a very strong border, we’re going to have a very solid border,” Trump told ABC's David Muir. “You have great people that are here that have done a good job, they should be far less worried.”

3. AFFORDABLE CARE ACT

Donald Trump Then:

As he campaigned for the White House that he declared in an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes”: “I am going to take care of everybody … Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now.” More recently, Trump has promised that repeal will end with “a beautiful picture.”

Donald Trump Now:

The White House said Monday that President Trump is “absolutely” serious about working with Democrats on health-care legislation and other priorities after conservative Republicans balked at a GOP plan to repeal and replace Obamacare.

“We learned a lot through this process,” said White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. “If we can come up with resolution on a way to move forward, we’ll certainly entertain that. I don’t think we’ve seen the end of health care.”

Mr. Trump criticized the conservative House Freedom Caucus for failing to support the administration-backed bill last week, saying they were allowing Obamacare to remain in place and permitting federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

Asked if working with Democrats would require a serious course correction by the administration, Mr. Spicer said, “Sure.”

You made your point there, but regarding the aforementioned.

Most of those ‘Freedom Caucus’ members have a track record of voting to make either Ryan or Boehner Speaker of the House.

They did not vote against either which to me is a ‘litmus test’ of authentic Conservatism. They want to posture as “Conservative” while keeping the RINO leadership in power.

The talk show hosts are Never Trumpers and Russia Haters.

They are promoting the hatred of Russia ahead of the plans to finish off Assad in Syria once Islamic State is swept out of the picture in the coming months.

Russia will be the only force that could checkmate those intentions.

The Saudis are fighting Iran in Syria with their jihadists and fighting Iran in Yemen. Defense Secretary Mattis is ramping up support for the Saudi war effort, but it will be interesting to see how Trump reacts when escalation comes to Syria sometime down the road.

Trump supports Israel and speaks out against Iran, but does he want to be in conflict with Russia, the country that Beck and Levin the Never Trumpers hate so much.

You have your colored glasses on.
It is much too early to talk about broken promises unless the talk is just a way of attacking and derailing Trump. If you see all that he has accomplished thus far in his Presidency as little beans and the fact that every thing is not done, that some things need work,as the entire story I am sorry for you.

Do you think a President Cruz would have “locked her up”, repealed DACA and repealed/redone the ACA?

“The messenger whom you are trying to kill did not break Donald Trump’s promises.”

Neither has President Trump. He’s what, 68 days into his administration?

I realize with some Trump will always be found lacking but sheesh your premise is absurd.

Have you seen the latest pictures of HRC?

Lock her up?

More like.... Call the undertaker.

As for the rest; IF he doesn’t start getting some cooperation my prediction is he will go nuclear in the run up to the midterm elections.

His Message: “Look folks. You see the problem. I came to Washington DC to make a difference and get things done. I am getting very little help. The career politicians who would rather die in their elected seat than do a single thing to help the American people are the problem. The energy and desire they had to make a difference when they first got here is long gone. They don’t represent you, your town, your county, or your state. They represent the “status quo” and Washington DC.”

Trump will use that as his opening and then close by attaching the name of one of the many do-nothing slugs that is preventing anything from getting done.

BOOK IT.

LOL. Trump always said that the deportations would prioritize the “bad dudes” (criminal aliens).

Rubbish! Read the quotes.

On healthcare his position was always that “everybody should be taken care of”

And that is exactly why Rino care failed. It is impossible to cover all the promises (really a rehash of the Obama care promises) and not have high premiums, high deductibles and high co-pays.

we believed that he was the only candidate that could beat Jeb and then Hillary.

That we will never know but your assertion does not have much to do with him breaking his promises. My firm belief has always been that Hillary was such damage goods that any respectable conservative would have gotten a better score than Donald Trump did.

“The messenger whom you are trying to kill did not break Donald Trump’s promises. “

LOL! Yeah. I don’t consider it my responsibility, either.

We hired this guy to fight. He’s not fighting.

Trump and Sessions have a duty to the country and the Constitution to act to prevent the moral hazard created by letting Hillary, Obama, and their ilk skate. If what Hillary and Obama did was ok then what will the next Hillary do.

I would like to see some sort of a Federal super-grand jury empanelled after every change of administration with blanket authority to look into everything the previous administration did. I would even like such an arrangement to be added to the Constitution.

There are bigger fish to fry.

With Sessions at Justice there is now the possibility of getting to the core of the corruption of the last administration and the collusion of members of both parties in both houses to deny and derail the Trump candidacy and now his administration.

The biggest lesson he learned form the healthcare fiasco is not to trust the Congressional leadership to do what needs to be done. THEY are more interested in keeping their little scheme of fleecing the rest of us hidden from the bright light of day.

A perfect example is the continual attacks on Nunes to step down or step aside. The possibility that the tip of the corruption iceberg is about to be breached......and the cockroaches are going to start to scatter.

As soon as one of the smaller players in this scheme gets identified, watch the roll over turn into an avalanche. Deals will be made to avoid prosecution. People who have been demonstrably anti-Trump will be exposed as part of the clique out to destroy a sitting POTUS.

How many times have the perennial gripers called the WH switchboard? How many emails have they sent to Trump, Bannon and others who could actually impact these issues? How persistently have they contacted McConnell and Ryan re the GOP agenda? How much time have they spent pressuring their senators and reps?

Their online griping accomplishes nothing positive. It’s mere self-indulgence.

I don't see a problem with pointing out shortcomings when we are eager to do so on the other side.

A lot of people honestly believe, because Trump and a host of other mouthpieces led them to believe, Hillary should be locked up and it's a slam-dunk to do so. So every day she remains free is another day justice has been denied.

If Trump's team is gathering evidence, then the whole slam-dunk scenario was a sham.

And finally, there's a lot of justified I told you so from those who weren't in the deep end for the President.

I agree Ivanka will pull him left.

But you have to remember. Trump's morale compass is the amount of applause he receives. If he gets more for turning right, then right he will go. If he gets more for turning left, then left he will go.
