Champagne wishes and caviar dreams, this time with a side of dissent.
About three dozen demonstrators descended on the mansions of Connecticuts 0.01% over the weekend to protest Democratic Gov. Dan Malloys new budget, which includes jobs cuts and changes in pension funding. As part of the Lifestyles of the Rich and Shameless tour, protestersmany of whom work in the arealeft mock tax bills at the ritzy homes of hedge fund bosses like Ray Dalio and Steven Cohen, asking them to pony up over $1.2 billion between both of them.
Income inequality is out of control in this country, and particularly in that part of Connecticut, says Lindsay Farrell, executive director of the Connecticut Working Families Party, a progressive group that organized the protest. She tells Moneyish that the contrast is especially jarring in Connecticut, where Bridgeport, with its racially concentrated and relatively poor population, neighbors wealthier and whiter enclaves like Greenwich and Norwalk.
The demonstrators are particularly peeved with the $1.5 billion in wage and pension cuts that Malloy is asking Connecticut residents to swallow, which they say disproportionately targets low and middle income workers. The governor says that the cuts are necessary to reduce the $1.3 billion state budget deficit, while protesters are calling for it to be met by ending a loophole that effectively allows investment managers to pay lower income taxes. (Reps for Dalio and Cohen didnt immediately return requests for comment.)

I wish the people would demand that harry reid, nancy pelosi- brown- schumer etc all redistribute their own wealth to we the people since the left love redistributing other people’s money
Anyone ask if the protesters pay any taxes?
Go to .... Hillary’s house, Kerry’s house, Bernie’s house, Obama’s house... etc.
Gibme dat Rolls Royce.
The thing about billionaires is that they are very mobile.
Many of these billionaires are the same Goldman Sachs and other Wall Street executives who contribute heavily to the Democratic Party and who contributed heavily to Obama. These “Occupy Wall Street” types are Frankenstein’s monsters of their own creation.
There was a period about seven years ago when Maryland decided to go heavy on the rich-class folks. Oddly, within two years, it was noticed that a fair number had moved or left the state (going to Virginia). Those who owned condos....kept them but were primarily located out of state, so they avoided taxes.
Norwalk is hardly a white enclave.
I hope that Malloy and Rosa DeLauro are on that list of people to protest.
Take that, gap-tooth Dave!
The politicians used their positions of power to extort millions in nefarious ways....they were paid to play—for giving favors/etc. to corporations at taxpayer expense, and they need to return all the stolen taxpayer money and be in prison. Millions should be returned to the taxpayers.
Targeting wealthy people is class warfare. People who actually earned their money using the evil system the Marxists/politicians installed—are what this “System” is designed to do: create “groups” and “hate” and it is what the skools ingrain-—”hate of the “Other”-—by their grouping—identity politics. The schools embed “hate” of “Others” through their “diversity” and “tolerance” and “multicultural” programming which embed emotions only (of hate).
Evil systems will collapse because it is not Just (people are NOT treated equal under this evil Marxist system and our “income tax” with all the loopholes).
I’ll be impressed when these ***hole, snowflake “protesters” (rioters) “protest” out in front of Little Georgie Soros’ house. Until then, they can all KMA.
Jeb is a small man. I have really come to loathe him.
Used car lots in the suburban ghettos of the Baltimore metro area are rife with big BMWs and MB’s with age on them. You can buy a decent one for under five grand or, more likely, buy from one of the Iranian-owned buy here-pay here (every week) for a multiple of that. About the only white people driving them are young college age guys trying to be cool. That works until the car needs service or repairs. When that happens, they wish they would have settled for a used Focus.
Agreed. But the protesters are too stupid to know that.
