Scientists Who Want To Study Climate Engineering Shun Trump

President Trump issued a sweeping executive order on Tuesday that will begin to undo a slew of government efforts to fight global warming.

Among those worrying and watching to see how the executive order plays out are scientists who actually are in favor of exploring bold interventions to artificially cool the climate.

Just a year ago, some hoped that the U. S. government would start funding such research and take a leadership role. Back then, advocates for the work saw public funding as ideal, because it would foster transparency, accountability and public trust.

But now that the Trump administration is in charge, those folks have changed their views.

David Keith, a climate scientist at Harvard University who is planning to use a balloon to test putting particles in the stratosphere as early as next year, is well aware of the need to reassure the public about his small experiment.

"We are horrified by the idea that there might be some huge backlash," Keith said, "and so the questions of how to avoid that are top of our minds."

He used to want public funding, he said, partly to inspire trust. But, for now, he's happy to stick to private sources.

"I am more comfortable," Keith said, "taking money from clearly environmentally aligned philanthropies or philanthropists than I am taking money from the administration."

A one sentence summation.

The renounced lunatic and fraud “scientist” is planning to mess with the climate. Why does this buffoon hate the climate? What right does have to mess with it? He should be arrested for his planned assault on our beloved climate.

“Scientists” riding a gravy train of taxpayer money to finance hare-brained solutions to a non-existent problem are rebelling at the guy who’s threatening to derail it?

Who would have imagined???

Idiot academics who told us in the seventies that it was global cooling. Which actually is probably closer to accurate

They want to see what particles do then read about the year without a summer after Krakatoa blew. These fools need to study some real engineering

Scientists Who Want To Study Climate Engineering Shun Trump

I wasn't aware that Trump expressed any interest in meeting with them so how can they be "shunning" him?

When your government grants are taken away, one would normally “shun” the President who does it. These so called “scientists” are all of a sudden out of a job.

It was Mt. Tambora, not Krakatoa, that caused the year without a summer in 1816.

The sad thing is what happens when their “research” and experimentation cause even more calamities? Who pays then?

Its bad enough to make artificial cloud cover by spraying chemicals into the atmosphere.. even worse as those same materials begin to accumulate on the Erf itself and its populaces.

I will say it again and again. In the new world order, anybody who supports globull warning is a “scientist” anybody with an opposing idea is a “denier”.

Since you can’t actually engineer the climate, I have to wonder what they think they are being paid to do (aside from curse Republicans).

LOL! I was just scanning the comments, saw this headline, and my first thought was, “you can’t engineer the climate!” And then viola, there’s your comment just like mine!

I'm pretty sure most taxpayers will be fine with your new approach to funding.... Get a filthy rich person who's been baffled by your BS, and then get them to give you money. That's more like it... And that way taxpayers won't need to pay out big bucks for your pursuit of playtime with balloons.

Why anyone would want to cool the planet is beyond me. Warm is good, cold is bad. CO2 is good, plants grow fast with more CO2 and require less water.

As it should be. The myth of global warming has never been about science, but about paying people to "achieve" pre-concieved notions in order to promote an idea or political stance. In this case, the stance is "carbon dioxide is bad, tax it".

You can always count on the left trying to extract the fruit of other peoples' labor, by force if necessary. They did it in 1860, and they still do it today.

Agreed.

But keep in mind that CO2 is 0.04% of Earths atmosphere. It amazes me that this “fake science” isn’t challenged.
