We Can Still Get Healthcare [insurance] Right [Rep. Dave Brat]
Facebook ^ | March 26, 2017 | Dave Brat

Rep. Dave Brat is my rep. Yesterday, he posted an article to his constituents on his Facebook page. There are a lot of rumors & "who shot John" accusations flying around, but here it is straight from a Freedom Caucus & Conservative mouth as to what happened. There are a lot of terrific comments in this article and it's well worth reading. Personally, Dave Brat speaks for me ...... it was a great day when Eric Cantor was deposed from his self-assumed throne & I am grateful every day for Dave Brat. So far he has acted in the best interests of those who have elected him instead of playing politics & he communicates well as to why he believes what he does and votes the way he does. He is also the only House member with a PhD in Economics so he has a good idea how "things" like market forces and government mandated programs work. The entire article is below.

The closer we get to 2018, congress will be at Trump’s mercy & Trump will dictate what he wants. It’s called negotiating! Trump now holds all the cards.

This has been my complaint since before Obamacare became law. Nothing I’ve seen addresses the problem of increased costs of medical care. All these bills just shift the rising costs from the users to the taxpayers. The system can’t work if healthcare costs continue to rise at a rate that’s faster than household income.

Price controls don’t work because it will eventually result in a shortage of doctors - which will increase the cost of healthcare over the long term. Price controls by Medicare and Medicaid have already caused many providers to quit accepting new patients. If the whole system becomes a single payer with the government establishing the prices for services, you will end up destroying the healthcare industry. Without a profit incentive, there will be no new drugs, fewer doctors, and less innovations in the medical fields.

The increasing costs are a result of numerous factors, including insurance requirements to do more testing to reduce liability of malpractice. Increasing insurance premiums. Increasing costs of medical school. Med school graduates are coming out of school owing $100,000 in student loans.

Trump will learn when he suffers democrat body blows to the groin. His problem is that he trusts people and assumes they have ethics and care about America. He’ll learn...

Another Freeper posted last night that if Trump were given a 20-question test about Ryan’s AHCA bill, he probably would have gotten no more than 4 questions right. LOL.

Sadly, I think this may be very true.

We were on the verge of getting rid of the most price-inflating regulations but we ran out of time because an artificial deadline was imposed.
...
In the end we were compromising beyond comprehension with President Trump on a bill that included the entire structure and architecture of Obamacare…

The term “moving the goalposts” is generally applicable in a commercial setting when one gives the intermediary (as Trump appears here) one’s “bottom line” and then when the intermediary returns with that bottom line adds new, additional requirements. As a competent negotiator, at a minimum Trump would have been very disappointed with such an event.

Has Brat yet specifically denied to his constituents the reported charge by Poe that the HFC “moved the goalposts”?

I agree.

Ryan and these morons try to make it complicated. It's not just repeal Obamacare and let the Free Market take care of healthcare as it is doing in other less regulated industries as in the smart phone market.

The Free market with its intense competition is lowering prices in the smart phone market while at the same time increasing quality . That's because free market capitalism is the only thing that works not government planners and government regulator and socialism

Ryan can't be that dumb. He's pure evil .Ryan is trying to deliberately damage America.

I think The Donald will learn his lesson the first time he reaches his hand across the aisle and the Rats bite it.

Trump already learned this lesson, no need to worry. He's NOT going to forget, he's not a member of the Bush family, nor a member of the Stockholm syndrome GOP in any way shape or form.

To understand what Trump did with that "overture" to the democrats, you should look at The Art of the Deal.

“Trump has proven he has no problem throwing the FC under the bus”

No exactly true. Trump wrote a letter to the Freedom Caucus that guaranteed that their issues would be addressed in phase 2 of the bill.

Trump ran on “repeal AND replace”, not “just repeal”.

The Republican party has been pushing for and running on repeal for 7 years. The 2016 Republican platform is repeal. To wit: "ObamaCare places yet another aspect of our economy under the control of the federal government. ObamaCare expands the government’s control to over one-sixth of our economy. Republicans believe that Congress needs to repeal ObamaCare as soon as possible, so that all Americans have improved access to affordable, coordinated, quality healthcare."

Trump ran and we elected him as a Republican. His supporters can't just dodge this and say it's repeal and replace. Trump is free to run with some other party if he doesn't like ours.

It doesn’t matter how many times people post it on FR, “just repeal” is not going to happen. Deal with it.

TrumpCare is dead.

Seriously...we thought there was going to be a phase 2...or 3? These additional phases would’ve never happened! Doubt me? Just review the history of the GOPe!

Interesting that the Republicans could offer many Full Repeals of Obamacare, but now they can’t?

I thank the Almighty Ryancare failed!

Med school graduates are coming out of school owing $100,000 in student loans.

You can safely add 50K to 150K to your estimate.

Kaiser has been getting good new doctors to become Kaiser Doctors.

Besides relieving Doctors from the paperwork created the insurance companies and Obamacare they have a great plan re reducing the student loans of the doctors.

After the first year and each year afterwards, Kaiser will reduce the doctor’s loans by 10% each year.

I would believe it. Trump is a big picture guy that unfortunately relied on Ryan to work out the details.

Would Trump go so far as to veto a “repeal only” bill? I don’t thing so, but it would need to be irrevocably tied to a “replacement” bill. So we’re really down to arguing over syntax and sequence. As Ron Paul said, “we could vote for repeal in the morning and replace in the afternoon”. Well, Senator, tee up such a set of bills and let’s find out.

My point is that repetition is no substitute for logic, and “repeal only” without replacement is not going to happen no matter how much people wish it would.

here’s what i think:

The enemedia and RINO NeverTrump articles about this so-called “failure” are all delusional, and the best part is that they actually believe their own delusions.

I heard President Trump himself say a few weeks ago that his administration wouldn’t be addressing obamacare repeal and replace until late 2017 to early 2018 (basically when obamacare would be facing complete collapse), so I can’t wait to watch these fools freak the F out when his administration introduces a REAL repeal and replace bill 9 months from now.

As far as President Trump was concerned, RyanCare was nothing but a red herring intended to take Paul Ryan out of all future equations about everything.

RyanCare was a real abortion of a bill, written by the insurance companies who were the only ones who were going to benefit from its passage. The insurance companies clearly had this bill already in hand, and I feel certain had cut a deal with Paul Ryan BEFORE the election, fully expecting (exactly like the rest of the entire world) that HILLARY CLINTON would be President, but believing that some Pub House votes would be needed to get the bill through the House.

RyanCare was actually SUPPOSED to have been HillaryCare, which was why the original RyanCare bill preserved 99.9% of obamacare, and it supposed to have been Hillary’s gift to the insurance companies, while simultaneously shafting Trump’s voters, who are the people who would have suffered the worse under HillaryCare/RyanCare, with even higher premiums than we pay now, all the while proclaiming to the public that she had “fixed” obamacare.

Ryan went ahead with HillaryCare anyway, thinking he could bulldoze the House into screwing their own constituencies even worse than happened with obamacare. If this had passed, Ryan also knew that it would totally sink Trump’s ship before four years was out, which was another major goal of Ryan’s, namely, to try to destroy President Trump before 2020.

The Freedom Caucus saved Trump’s bacon whether he knows it or not.

That means NOTHING

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

He doesn’t control what is in Phase 2.

Read the quote about no place for conservatives.

They are going to screw us over in Phase 2 and Phase 3. That’s like the GOPE who voted Obamacare out of committee..with some lame excuse as to why she did it.

Maybe a constituent of Brat can ask him who EXACTLY put in the verbiage forcing Vets in the VA system..and who EXACTLY wanted healthcare for illegals.

When a businessman runs into obstacles, he finds ways around them. Trump ran on “repeal AND replace”, not “just repeal”. It doesn’t matter how many times people post it on FR, “just repeal” is not going to happen. Deal with it.

Ryan's bill wasn't repeal.

As Brat pointed out, the best solution is to start with the repeal bill that they all passed numerous times. Then add any replacement items.

You’ve got it backwards. The closer it gets to 2018 the less desire Congress will have to do anything major. Get ready for a “clean” obamacare bill. This was our chance to move the ball forward on health care and free up some money for the rest of Trump’s agenda. Unfortunately, the arsonists in the freedom caucus selfishly ruined it.
