It was an awful bill. They way Ryan/Trump tried to shove it down our throats made sure it would never pass.

The Freedom Caucus has been a very respected body of Conservatives in the House. They will continue to be. They represent THE ONLY Conservatives in the House.

Bingo. Way too many shallow thinkers here on FR. The Freedom Caucus is just another pawn in the game. The whole system is a con game designed to keep everyone in power. Freedom Caucus claims conservative principles while at the same time voting for the very Speaker who will ensure they can’t enact their agenda. Conversely, the leadership allows them to spout off and keep the right wing purists (like many on here), engaged in the electorate who actually believe something will get done. All the while, everyone says they tried but nothing gets done.
Trump knows this, which is why he wanted a vote, to get everyone on record. If they voted in the affirmative, he claims a victory of a massive rollback of many of the worst parts of OCare. If the vote went down to defeat, he shows the complete ineffectiveness of Ryan and we perhaps (doubtful), get a new Speaker. Part of me thinks this was the desired goal, a set up of Ryan. If there was no vote, he just exposed them all for the frauds they are.
Just to be clear. The Freedom Caucus are not heroes. They’re frauds, con-men, all playing their part in Washington’s little charade.

Nonsense. Standing by your principles is a wholly nonaggressive act and cannot be “stabbing anyone in the back.” There’s no hidden knife- everyone knows what you believe and where you stand.
If you get cut when dealing with people of principle who believe in liberty, it’s because you charged against the blade in the erroneous belief it wasn’t real.
