Cruz at first, but Trump was OK as well.

All the others... no way.

Trump solidly won the nomination and Cruz was the ONLY one that gave Trump a real run for his money.

Right there I felt pretty good about my initial first and second choice.

Actually now I think we are much better off with Trump as he is dramatically changing politics, the Party and the attitudes of normal American Citizens.

Yes We Can Push Back.

So, Supreme Court, Tax reform (reduce corporate and personal), build the wall, economic recovery, normalizing government regulations, Drastically shrink fed.gov, massive deportation of the illegal aliens, welfare reform.

Yeah, I would be moving on to what is next and let the Unaffordable Don’t Care Act eat the proglibs alive.

.

I was an early Cruz supporter. You can find that on my earlier profiles. I eventually became disenchanted with Cruz and all the other GOP candidates.

My state, North Carolina, has an extremely active FR state forum, really very chatty and friendly. Opinions often are posted there that would get blasted to smithereens on “the main board.” I recall, very early on, watching one of the first Trump rally speeches, well before they became such a phenomenon. I remember being amazed that he was a fun and funny guy, that he was very entertaining. I posted as much to the NC forum, something to the effect that I couldn’t believe that I was starting to lean toward a guy who appears to be the biggest blowhard in the race but that’s where it started for me. He said so many things that sorely needed saying, and meant it.

He’s now a politician, and I know never to put complete trust in any politician, but he hasn’t let me down yet. Whether it’s due to ego or a fixation upon “ratings” drilled into him during a long career in reality television, I honestly don’t believe that he’s going to willingly abandon a single one of his campaign pledges, he knows who his audience is and audience approval is extremely important to him to the point of obsession. His stunning inauguration speech, so widely panned, was a big fat exclamation point directed at any doubters, in my opinion. In a nutshell, he said: “ I. MEANT. EVERY. SINGLE. WORD.”

This healthcare debate has been personally upsetting, what with all the doomsayers and never Trumpers trying to hang it all around his neck from the get-go. I have been concerned that derailing what appeared politically doable might really damage Trump going forward. But, with the bill being withdrawn, I’m seeing that the damage is much more to the Ryan faction, and that’s not at all a bad thing in my opinion.

He has a strange habit of making lemonade when handed lemons, and I suspect he’ll do it again with this, too. He’ll start to sound different to you, now that you’re at least somewhat on board. Excellent comedic timing and a very funny man, biting but virtually always on point. Even with the much-maligned Tweets, there’s an apparent method to the madness. He appears to relish making a knowingly controversial but radically truthful Tweet, then sitting back while letting his detractors make fools of themselves. Then, he lets the other shoe drop. He’s done that time after time.

I don’t think there’s a single one of the other Republicans in the primary field who would have stood a chance at withstanding the withering media firestorm he’s had to endure. Guy seems to actually thrive on it, which is a very good thing. Unusual, but very good.

I’ll be disappointed at some point, of that I’m sure. But, if he gets even a quarter of his agenda through, he’ll be the best President we’ve had since Reagan. Get half of it through or more, he may just surpass Reagan, and that’s not something that I’d ever say easily.

When he brought some of Clinton rape victims to the debate.

I said to myself, “this man is not afraid.”

Speaking of fearless: "Here she is tonight in public pretending not to hate Catholics" at the Al Smith Dinner. There are other sites that refer to that even as "The Red Dinner," a reference to "The Red Wedding" episode of Game Of Thrones.

Nothing. I liked him from the start, unlike some after-birthers I know.

I was all in for Trump vs Hillary once it became clear to me that was the choice.

Now I am beginning to wonder, as bad as Hilary would have been, the Republicans may not have been as obstructionist as the Democrats are now. Would she have been a better choice? The MSM will not doubt be gloating tomorrow just to improve my spirits.

Should I just abandon the small & shrinking hope I have left?

Some of us, forum posters, conservative columnists, and commentators, were not thrilled with having Donald J. Trump as the GOP nominee. We thought his statements were reckless and stupid. And we didn't trust him or believe him when he talked conservative principles.

Who are you trying to kid? I still remember your obnoxious posts over at Free Conservatives. You're the mushiest, softest "conservative" that ever was. I picture you all the time with a bow-tie and problem glasses.

People who are successful learn to get back in the saddle right away and forge ahead towards their goals. Most people give up when they fail. Winners don't. They keep trying until they succeed.

When I was in sales in the mortgage banking business, we used to say that a yes would come only after getting many doors slammed in our faces. Failure and losing are a big part of winning and success.

Great post!

Have you read "Go for No"? Great book, about sales, but more than that about not giving up.

Trump is a winner. He will move on and tackle tax reform and then come back to a ObamaCare fix down the road.

He will. And he will continue to surprise us!

Please remember to pray for our President Trump.

Bow-tie, no. Glasses, yes. Conservatives are supposed to be honest. I try to be honest. Obviously you don't think the same way. Have a nice day.

What pushed me over was the orchestration of the media finally confirmed by Wikileaks — and it was worse than we ever thought it was. That completely ignited my passion. I had been warming to Trump, but that sealed the deal. Also, the Catholic website that showed the hatchet job they did on Trump about the reporter with the disability.
