Republican officials in Congress and the White House are now openly discussing finding a GOP replacement to Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) as Speaker of the House, after Ryan failed to pass the American Health Care Act out of the House and misled the public and President Donald Trump when he promised repeatedly the bill would pass.
Ryan was caught on an audio file from Octoberobtained by Breitbart News and published a couple weeks agosaying he is not going to defend Donald Trumpnot now, not in the future. While the audio file does not make the comments clear, Ryans staff later claimed that it was specifically about the Access Hollywood tape scandal from the election. The audio tape of Ryan, recorded from a House GOP members conference call, does not make that context clear.
Many allies of the president and several White House officials over the weeks since have confirmed to Breitbart News that the president is concerned that Ryan may not have hisor his agendasbest interests at heart. Ryans failure to deliver the votes on healthcare cement Trumps skepticism of Ryan, they say.

"I made half your supporters hate you.
Now, I will take your place in four years."
incomplete link?
Big tax reform and healthcare by September. Now, hopefully we will have Comeys resignation this weekend.
Anyone who lives in Wisconsin: How the hell did this moron get reelected? I cannot imagine being a Republican and voting for this guy, how is that possible? It’s like voting for Ted Kennedy.
Problem is that Ryan will continue to get the salary of House Speaker even if he goes back to being a member so we will pay THAT salary PLUS the new Speakers salary increase. They get about 40 grand more then a regular house member. I am not sure we can really afford to pay for two speaker salaries right now. Plus I find it unfair that once you make an annual salary due to position, it can never be lowered. For example, if President Obama ran for Senator, he’d make 400K a year due to being President. PLUS his 400K a year for the pension. Yep that is how it works.
He should have been removed last November.
I'm glad he didn't.
If Romney had won, we would have wound up with at least four years of liberal RINO establishment rule, followed by another Democrat (probably Hillary) for another eight years.
President Trump would never have happened, and neither would any chance of restoring this nation.
“Only problem is Cruz is in the Senate and not the House, dont think he would want to switch.”
Yeah, I had not thought about that and had to look up why his name was mentioned when Boehner retired.
What I forgot was that being a Congressman is not a requirement to be Speaker.
And I would not be surprised if Cruz would take the job. But I doubt he could be Speaker AND a senator. So, if this shortened his political career, he might not want to take it even if it was offered. You may be right.
I wonder if, in the current political climate, we could get a decent replacement for Ryan. I think Ryan is doing better than Boehner, but not as good of a job as we need.
Romney almost won. It was the 47 percent that ruined him.
Because many, me included, thought he would be better than Barry O.....
Same goes for Johnny M....
Glad we have a real president now, and the sooner he jettisons Paul “ I couldn’t even outdebate Old Joe “ Ryan the better.
The idiot who ran with him and is now speaker is part of the problem. But Romney is a RINO.
I wouldn’t doubt if that was his plan all along, his way of getting Ryan out of the way for good.
MSM code words being issued...
I’m sure, “failure” will be heard in describing Republicans and Trump.
I also predict Ryan as failure will not be used.
That will be telling.
Bingo!
Indeed.
Could it be possible that President Trump feigned support for Ryan's turd bill, just to lead him into quicksand?
Bloody genius, if that's the case.
Nonsense. The Republicans can dust off one of the many Obamacare repeal bills they pushed the last six years, and put it up for a vote next week.
Romney’s man in the House withdraws his crap sandwich.
If Ted Cruz was majority leader in the senate, they would do that.
Gorsuch would probably have been confirmed by now too.
Okay wackos, time for some math.
These Koch brother NeverTrump funded Freedom Caucus guys represent about 26 votes. That’s 11 or 12% of the GOP conference.
There were apparently more moderate/centrist NO votes today than the 21 or so of those right wing guys that didn’t change to Yes. So call it 30 or 35 moderates.
Why would you think those moderates and the rest of the conference will vote for a right wing guy now? They wouldn’t 18 months ago when they begged Ryan to be Speaker. Not a single “Freedom Caucus” guy ran against Ryan for Speaker.
For really good reason. Before Ryan was begged to take the job, they had already found they had no support in the conference and could not get a majority. No other member of the House could get a majority — most certainly not staunch conservatives.
So just stop and think about your own delusion about Cruz being Speaker. That’s the same guy Trump mopped the floor with for the nomination. Why would you think he would have broad appeal in the House conference.
What y’all have to wrap your minds around is . . . you now have to govern. That means you have to appeal to people who don’t give a damn about your self righteous principles. You have to get their votes. Good luck doing that with a red meat type.
The problem isn’t getting rid of Ryan, but who the Elite would elect to Speaker instead. They are always a RINO asshat who surrenders to the Democrats and wants to get along and go along.
The GOP has never had a Speaker with a damn since Gingrich, and the elite won’t allow one today. I would love to see Ryan gone, but I have NO CONFIDENCE in who they would replace him with. None whatsoever.
I second that emotion.
