College requests 'grammatically incorrect' gender-neutral language

Sarah Lawrence College wants all official school publications to adhere to a set of “Gender Neutral Language Guidelines” that prohibit the use of terms such as “brotherhood” and “mankind.”

While the guidelines specifically apply only to “publications and policy statements whose primary audience is enrolled students” at the college, the document does make clear that “reducing unnecessary gender reference in all materials is ideal.”

This policy would have banned the playing of - or required the bleeping of - of John Lennon’s song, “Imagine,” which contains the phrase “a brotherhood of man.” The left would have banned one of its own anthems.

The best irony has been that trans people demand to be addressed according to their gender choice.

Cis people are not allowed to demand it.

So if a girls thinks she is a boy, she can demand male gender references.
But a boy can’t make the same demand.

The phrase “Oh Boy!” will soon be eliminated. Plumbing and hardware parts will no longer be referred to as male or female. Clothing will no longer be divided into men’s and women’s.

I had a good friend from high school who eventually married a woman who was not content to have a bachelor's degree from a mountain west university. He struggled as a criminal defense lawyer (focusing on public defense and defending those who could not raise money themselves), and tried to raise their small family on his relatively meager income.

His wife became disenchanted with being primarily a stay-at-home mom, and decided to pursue a Master's degree in Poetry...at Sarah Lawrence College. I'm sure that my friend supported his wife, reluctantly, in her endeavor. It likely cost them a small fortune to send her there.

I'm not sure what happened during her studies, but she eventually decided to leave her Mormon religion and became a Quaker. She and my friend divorced, and he largely raised his children alone. I'm not sure if Hallmark ever hired her to write cards for them.
