It's too bad former Massachusetts U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz did not hang around long enough to get fired by President Donald Trump.
That way she would have emerged as a hero of the liberal political and media establishment by standing up to the president, the way U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara did in New York.
Had she done so she would by now be the leading Democrat candidate to take on Republican Gov. Charlie Baker in the 2018 election

Presidents have been firing US Attorneys since day one but only Trump seems to be vilified for doing so. Bush did five or so and was lambasted for it; Clinton fired them and and nothing but crickets and frogs from the MSMLSD.
Every. Single. President. Has removed his predecessor’s U.S. Attorneys. All of them, unless the successor was of the same party. This is not at all unusual. But you would think that Trump had vowed to fire the U.S. Attorneys and replace them with homeless people off skid row.
Even if every single president did NOT do the same thing, firings would have been OK. Any president is entitled to build his team of prosecutors who share his vision of law enforcement under our Constitutional system.
Clinton fired 93 US attorneys, some of whom were in the middle of trials, and the MSM praised him for his ‘bold move’..........................
Did W also fire all the US Atttornies ?
If i were Trump (IIWT) i would fire 90% of the non-elected Federal government employees and start over by hiring at a 1 to 3 ratio.
Yes, he did. I don't think his father fired the U.S. Attorneys but since they had been appointed by Reagan then there wasn't a need to. These are political appointments. It should not come as any surprise that an incoming administration removes the outgoing administration's appointees.
I retired from DOJ and this was the norm.....shortly after swearing in you expected to get an email from HQS saying that effective whenever, all USAs and USMs were to resign. Simple!
