Bartenders at a West Village hot spot served up discrimination with a liberal twist refusing to serve a customer because he was wearing a Make America Great Again hat, according to a lawsuit.
Greg Piatek, 30, an accountant from Philadelphia, claims he was snubbed and eventually 86d by workers at The Happiest Hour on West 10th Street over his conservative fashion statement, popularized by Donald Trump on the campaign trail, he told The Post.
Anyone who supports Trump or believes what you believe is not welcome here! And you need to leave right now because we wont serve you! Piatek claims he was told as he was shown the door by a manager.
The shake-up started when Piatek and two pals, after a visit to the 9/11 Memorial, ordered drinks at the posh tavern around 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 28.
A female bartender served Piatek a $15 jalapeño margarita and his pals beers. But when he tried to order a second round, a male bartender noticed his hat and skipped them, he said.
One of Piateks pals pointed out it was their turn to be served, but the bartender scoffed. Is that hat a joke? the Manhattan Supreme Court suit claims.

Is there anywhere on that site where readers can leave comments? Couldn’t find any.......
Race is a protected class. Republican is not.
That’s fine by me. More power to him. i hope he goes back there every weekend and does it, suing the same bar multiple times. Instead of standing around and accepting your fate like a pussy like it was 2010. It’s 2017 now.
“Yes he does, precedent was set in the homosexual/ cake shop cases............ “
No.
The gay wedding cake case was based on an Oregon state law.
This took place in New York.
And with an establishment that serves alcohol, the bartenders and bouncers have great latitude to throw someone out of the bar.
Where would I like to cower? Nowhere. But I'm not stupid enough to think that I have any kind of legal argument in a case like this.
A conservative believes that a private business has a right to refuse service for any reason, or for no reason at all.
I agree. want to see how this ends.
Let’s end discriminatory anti-discrimination laws. If a shop keeper cannot refuse service to blacks or gays, why should he be allowed to refuse service to the half of the population that voted for Trump?
Why does a private business have to serve a wedding cake to a gay couple what is the difference???
Tell that to Sweet Cakes by Melissa. If they can’t refuse then neither can these people.
Go for it.
Time is past for turning the tables, don’t you think?
If a shop keeper cannot refuse service to blacks or gays, why should he be allowed to refuse service to the half of the population that voted for Trump?

Because Trump voters are not a protected class.
Wouldn’t it be JUST PRECIOUS to send some black Trump supporters to bars in NYC...they’d make so much money, they wouldn’t even have to work again.
...and Trump’s Justice Department could file CIVIL RIGHTS LAWSUITS against those businesses.
Guys - it’s time we PLAY BY THEIR RULES. We didn’t create this crap, but unless we make it painful for them too, this crap will NEVER go away.
What would happen if a female entered this fine business wearing a burqa and also had the same MAGA cap on her head? Heads would explode.
Sure they can.
Kill a Commie for mommy!
100 of us should walk in and order a beer and a burger. Then tell the owner if he chooses to serve us, we will come back for lunch and dinner every day.
Let’s see how long his business stays open.
That is just it there should not be and I’m glad he’s suing these stupid snowflakes.
“Unfortunately political beliefs do not make you a protected class. Better to just go elsewhere”
Yep, but the negative press can’t help the bar even though it is NYC. Plenty of Conservative vacationers will think twice about dropping their money there.
