I’ve tweaked my original impressions of Obama. I still believe he is quite shallow and incurious - and not very smart. I’ve always believed that he was purely a media creation and empty suit. Remember how in 2008 we were told he was simply the best public orator since Winston Churchill? That phony narrative certainly was allowed to die sometime in 2010.
The idea that he controls “the deep state” from Tahiti or the Virgin Islands is nonsense. The shallow man has been released from his 8 years of servitude, so he’s off celebrating like a teen on spring break.
What is clear now is that Obama was always much more of a figurehead and shill for others. The question is who and what, exactly?

Obama invites donors to the White House

WASHINGTON — A new study details how President Barack Obama has been inviting his Obama Foundation donors to events at the White House, a venue that obviously won’t be available to him to entertain mega contributors in a few months. The Obama Foundation, created on Jan. 31, 2014, has to date only 39 contributors, with the money coming either from individuals or foundations controlled by Obama supporters.
The nonprofit, nonpartisan oversight Maplight Foundation found that 15 of the 39 have been to the White House for small meetings or events, fewer than 30 attendees, including everyone connected to a contribution of more than $100,000.
Most of the donors have been longtime political supporters and friends — or at least acquaintances of Obama — and have been in and out of the White House for years.
However, Maplight found that at an intimate White House dinner in January 2015 with actress Julia Roberts, the guests included two couples who had recently made jumbo contributions to the Chicago-based foundation.
And as 2015 progressed, one of the couples at the dinner kicked in even more, the foundation IRS report released last Friday reveals.
Among those at the January 2015 dinner were Mark Gallogly, the managing partner of Centerbridge Partners, an investment firm, and his wife, Lise Strickler. At that point, the New York couple had donated $340,000 to the foundation.
By the end of 2015, they put in an additional $330,000 for a total of $670,000. I checked to see what else was new: Gallogly and Strickler were invited to the State Dinner the Obamas hosted in March for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
In 2014, Tom Campion, owner of the Zumiez clothing chain and his wife, Sonya, gave the foundation $500,000. The Seattle couple found themselves at the Julia Roberts dinner along with folks who have also been longtime Obama backers. Another guest that evening was one of Obama’s favorite authors, Marilynne Summers Robinson.
The White House has said — and underscored this again on Wednesday at the daily briefing when asked about the Maplight report — that the Obamas are not fundraising for the foundation while in office. Well, no one is selling tickets to anything, that’s accurate. That’s not how fundraising at the mega level is done.
Obama will have to raise hundreds of millions of dollars to construct and endow his Obama Presidential Center on Chicago’s South Side. Fundraising at the elite donor level is an art, a nuanced dance, especially for an institution that will exist in perpetuity.
Small dinners are not put on Obama’s daily guidance and schedule. On April 2, 2016, the White House volunteered that Obama and first lady Michelle hosted their first White House event for supporters of the Obama Foundation. That dinner was not a fundraiser, the White House said.
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said: “What we have said about donors to the campaign also applies to donors at the foundation, and it’s simply this: Donating in support of the President’s foundation does not guarantee you a meeting with the President of the United States. It also doesn’t prevent you from getting a meeting with the President of the United States, and that’s the approach that we’ve taken, again, with regard to supporters of the President’s campaign, and it’s the approach that we’ve taken with regard to supporters of the President’s foundation.”
A lot of this is prospecting for the future.....M/M have Big plans to get-rich-quick ala the Clintons.

As you say, the 'loving family' have been in different places literally around the globe since the inauguration.
Although generally hushed or ignored by the press, this so-called close marriage was anything but. The duplicate airliners were costly but mandatory in their view since they couldn't stand to stay in the same place together for very long.
Staff or onlookers at Martha's Vineyard spilled the beans at least once: Obama stayed in bed - in a separate bedroom - all hours of the day chain smoking, drinking, eating and watching TV...unless, of course, he had a game of golf on the schedule.
The First Family observed at least two consecutive Father's Days by....having the wife and daughters fly off to Europe for shopping & going to pop concerts, leaving the nation's most visible father home alone.
Oh, and as usual, Mother Robinson enjoyed all the trappings of the presidency without earning or meriting a nickel of it. She was universally regarded as a demanding, ungrateful holy terror who enjoyed even more of a press blackout than the Obamas.
At least half a dozen trashy celebrity magazines managed to push Jen Aniston and Ben Affleck off their covers for a month to print 'commemorative editions' (*puke*) of the Obama couple in a thinly-veiled effort to a) promote the Dem candidate in the election and b) to portray these two charlatans in a loveless marriage as close.
It was widely reported that Michelle Obama could not wait to leave the White House - no doubt her utter failure to gain pop culture icon status despite a staff of 50+ (!) had something to do with her bitterness. Or maybe it was the Hindenburg-scale PR disaster that was her school lunch and nutrition program. The media moved heaven and earth to portray her as funny, hip, appealing (see also: Clinton, Hillary) but not even hand-picked audiences were having it. I'm sure you noticed that without a taxpayer-funded army of shills that nobody is interested much in what Michelle Obama has to say. Yet Barack Obama, at least, remained in the White House until the very last minute even though he had a newly-renovated luxurious house just blocks away in DC.
It can only mean that Obama wanted to remain in the WH until the very last minute, even with its suffocating smallness and surfeit of security types, because he wanted to preserve his access to intelligence, surveillance and communications. He was scorching the earth as much as he was able.
He is a fraud, a saboteur and a poor sport. She is a fraud with a chip on her shoulder. Their daughters are sullen and sulky.
When people complain about Trump I point out that he was inaugurated in January and it's still mid-March. I suppose I should take a dose of my own medicine and note that the Obamas have only been out of office for two months and some change and that many, many more secrets about their sham marriage and sham presidency will emerge once their protectors move on to other things, lose their jobs or write revealing memoirs.
