The so-called two-state solution, to subdivide the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea between independent Israel and independent Palestine, fails the tests of logic and history. And it ignores the Kingdom of Jordan whose participation is required for any stable, long-term arrangement.
There are presently three states, or at least three governments, west of the Jordan: Israel, the Palestinian Authority (PA), and Gaza. Pro-Israel two-staters think Gaza and the West Bank territory should become one state with Israel as the other, assuming-for-no-reason that it is Hamas that will disappear. Hamas vociferously disagrees. Assuming-for-no-reason that a single PA-governed state does emerge in both places, Israel would be left divided north from south by a corridor across the country so Palestinians could access both parts of their state. Arab armies tried multiple times to sever Israels waist in pursuit of conquest -- this would have Israel do it for them.
The Palestinians -- at best -- would have a split rump state squeezed between a hostile Israel and a more hostile Jordan. But the only thing Hamas and the PA appear to agree on is that the State of Israel is the one that has to do the disappearing. They believe the establishment of Israel in 1948 was a mistake by the international community that needs to be rectified. Hamas believes it should be through violence and bloodshed; the PA would negotiate Israel away through the right of return. A nasty Hamas-Fatah civil war in 2007 was never concluded, and the PA government rightly fears Hamas more than it does Israel -- in fact, the IDF and Shabak (Israels internal security agency) are what keep the PA in power.

Simple solution is for Israel to work with Egypt and Jordan to create a Palestinian state in Sinai. Work with the UN and the world community to create the country as a “green” country where the world can show off its achievement on how global warming can be fixed.
The new Palestine would run on solar and geothermal power with vehicles running on electric power. Water will be taken from the sea and desalinized for drinking and industry. Ammunition will not contain lead. All businesses will have to maintain the strictest of green standards.
This should be the message to the UN body on how to end world crisis. When they say no, every agency, company and person who advocated for a “green” world should be turned into soylent green and fed to the believers.

There is no ‘Palestine’.
“There is no Palestine”
I know. This would be for a “new” Palestinian state. It would be like allocating a chunk of land in some obscure place and calling it Clintonville and having all the Clintonites who believe that Hillary should be President relocated there.
The rest about global warming would still apply.
It is YHVH’s choice, who He gave the land to. The promised land is _much_ bigger than the tiny sliver the nations of the earth have offered; are offering to the people of Israel.
Leave it like it is. Israel and an area they occupy but do not make part of Israel.
There’s no reason or needs or deserves a nation.
I like it!
xlnt too simple and logical
The author is deranged. Israel has only offered hostility after they have been attacked - and repeatedly so. The palestinians exist as a displaced people because they believed that the combined arab armies would wipe the state of Israel away - they bet on the wrong horse.
“This should be the message to the UN body on how to end world crisis. “
END a crisis?! It’s their business to create, exacerbate and prolong crises.
.
Israel is Israel, and the whole world will find this out in a convincing way in the early fall this year.
And they will also find out that the true “one state” covers much more than the land west of the Jordan.
Fasten your Bible belts!
.
.
Nonsense!
Sinai is ultimately a part of Israel, as all will soon see.
