McDonald's' in a tweet on its corporate account called President Trump "a disgusting excuse of a President" on Thursday morning.
The tweet, which was briefly pinned to the top of the account before being deleted, mocked Trump and called for the return of former President Obama.
"@realDonaldTrump You are actually a disgusting excuse of a President and we would love to have @BarackObama back, also you have tiny hands," the tweet read.

McDonald’s is a disgusting excuse of a hamburger.
I am frankly disturbed by the number of people here who took this at face value. This was a crude tweet, unlike most corporate communications. While a former Obama spokesman is now working there, no corporate officer in their right mind is going to blatantly attack a President.
McDonald’s (unlike Ben and Jerry’s) does not have a reputation for public activism. They likely fund leftist groups to buy off bad publicity, but they don’t have a history of taking public political stands.
When we see a story like this, our first reaction should be skepticism and to reserve judgement. It could be a rogue employee or, as looks likely in this case, a hacker. Even if a hacker, they could be trying to target McDonald’s by riling up Trump’s supporters.
Don’t take things at face value, look at the context.
As Micky D’s has gotten bigger and bigger the quality of it’s food and service has gotten worse and worse. It’s been a number of years since I’ve gone to one, can only imagine how much worse it has become.

They hired former Obama Press Secretary Robert Gibbs to be their vice president in charge of communications. Their twitter account is under his direct control.
My guess is that Gibbs got drunk and let his feelings go. He probably has a personal twitter account and accidentally posted this on the corporate account.
Either way, it is obvious that this is the opinion of the guy in charge of their twitter account.
As director of communications at McDonalds, I suspect that Robert Gibbs has full and total access to the corporate twitter account and clears every tweet. My guess is that he thought he was on a private twitter (one of his own) and got drunk and posted this on the corporate account by accident.
As long as Robert Gibbs remains the head of communications for McDonalds, I would have to consider that that tweet is the official position of the company.
