~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana

Malmstrom Air Force Base is a United States Air Force base in Great Falls, Cascade County, Montana, United States. It was named in honor of World War II POW Colonel Einar Axel Malmstrom. It is the home of the 341st Missile Wing (341 MW) of the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC).

Malmstrom AFB is one of three US Air Force Bases that maintains and operates the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile. The 341st Missile Wing reports directly to Twentieth Air Force at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming. It is part of Global Strike Command headquartered at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana.

The Air Force has made significant strides and commitments in its efforts to extend the service life of the ICBM force with nearly $6.2 billion committed to life-extension programs.

The result is tangible improvements to the combat capability of Malmstrom's Minuteman IIIs, none of which could be accomplished without the hard work of group's 520 maintenance troops.

Those current and future improvements aim to extend the service life of the Minuteman III through 2020.

The 341st Missile Maintenance Squadron maintains the immediate launch readiness of 150 Minuteman III ICBMs and 15 missile alert facilities spread over a 13,800-square mile complex.

They replace limited life components, remove and replace missiles, reentry systems and guidance sets; repair security, command and control, electrical systems and environmental control systems.

Technicians also conduct periodic maintenance inspections and perform corrosion control work to sustain launch facilities and missile alert facilities.

The 341st Security Forces Group, the largest security forces group in the Air Force, ensures the most stringent security forces' support to the largest intercontinental ballistic missile complex in the world through effective management of all war-fighting and peacetime security taskings assigned to the 341st Missile Wing.

The units of the 341st Security Forces Group include the 341st Security Forces Squadron, the 341st Missile Security Forces Squadron, the 741st Missile Security Forces Squadron and the 341st Security Support Squadron.

He He He.

Kovacs was also my first introduction to the REAL “Mack the Knife”.

My Top Three Shows that I loved back then were:
1. Ernie Kovacs
2. Soupy Sales
3. Zorro (I had such a CRUSH on Guy Williams and was devastated when he appeared on Lost in Space looking like an overstuffed sausage in his mylar jumpsuit!)

Ahhhh...you’re getting close to where the kids live now...in WY! Thanks for the road trip! Only a snowmobile would be handier for taking this trip....even though some of the snow is melting from up there in the frozen north. :)

Howdy do, Conor! *HUGZ*

Are you getting hammered by the blizzard this evening? Looks awfully ugly in that part of the country on the radar. :-(

Howdy, Kathy.

Hope you’re able to go home this evening without homework. Wouldn’t that be a nice change?

Good evening, Radu!

*HUGS*

It has been snowing for the last hour or so. I don't think this one will be as bad as they predicted, but if you've lived in the Washington-Baltimore Region, you will understand the meaning of the "rain/snow line" in these Nor'easters.

They seldom get it right.

Today’s lesson is a direct hit.

Hiya radu!

Been busy all weekend with son-boy over hanging out and enjoying each other's company.

Lotsa snacking and video games happening here, LOL.

I think our Spring is getting real close, warmer temps and only a little rain.

Howz thing your way?

LOL! Sounds like predictions for our area. Off the mark many times. I hope it ISN’T as bad there as predicted. Certainly hope it doesn’t turn out to be worse! That would really stink!

Well hey there, PRO!

Glad y’all had a good time over the weekend. That new game must be a goody.

‘Bout time y’all got some warmer temps. But you pushed the cold down here! LOL! We’ve been spoiled by the warmish winter we’ve had and this cold hurts. It’s really going to hurt the plant life.

Things are ok here for the time being. Haven’t started the clean-up from last week’s storm hit yet. Ground’s too soggy. Just been cussing about it and will cuss til it’s all done. I’ll cuss a long time because it ruined a tree I really like. Oh well, that’s the way things go sometimes.
We’re just grateful the house was untouched.

I hope your power doesn’t go out too! Sounds like things are going to get pretty rough up your way with the wind. Keeping everyone in the storm’s path in my prayers.

What’s with them naming winter storms now? Are they going to start naming tornadic storm systems next? LOL

Good evening, Kathy!

*HUGS*

It has been snowing for about 90 minutes - less than one inch at this point. They have backed off the Blizzard prediction in this area. Still, most area schools have already closed for tomorrow.

I just shake my head at the wimpiness of contemporary society.

Thanks for your prayers!

I guess we have so many awful winter storms here, they decided to name them to keep track of them.

Or else they are just trying to be “cute”.
