Schools ask Trump to end Michelle Obama's strict lunch rules
The Washington Examiner ^ | March 13, 2017 | Paul Bedard

Feeling that they have an ally on their side in the Trump administration, their lobby group, the School Nutrition Association, plans to press for less-strict restrictions on ingredients that taste good.

The reason is simple: Studies show that public school students aren't eating what cafeterias are serving, turning many operations into money-losers. While the school districts can opt out, doing so results in federal subsidy cuts for those programs.

Right on. The kids won’t eat that stuff and it ends up in the dumpster out back. More so than what used to be normal.

Gotta get the kiddies used to prison food, as that’s what they’ll be eating at the OFA re-education camps. No, wait. We dodged that bullet. For now.

"Schools ask Trump to end Michelle Obama's strict lunch rule."

Schools need to decide this on their own. Let's see what happens when we stop 'asking permission'. What the kids have for lunch at a particular school should be what the community being served choose to have.

If it’s just a rule, who’s going to enforce it if everyone ignores it?

I don’t understand how somebody’s unelected wife can create a policy that results in loss of subsidies for schools that refuse to follow it. What was the process by which this became law or regulation?

So exactly how does an unelected fat a$$ tranny like Michael LaVaugn Robinson (aka "Michelle" 0bama) dictate school lunch rules for the Country?

Do it, but for heaven’s sake don’t let Paul Ryan get involved.

Years ago, my SIL was in charge of cooking in the school
cafeteria. At the time, I looked at her choice of what to
cook for the kids as being “junk food”. She said then that
if they cooked all “health” foods, the kids wouldn’t eat it.
So, she did a lot of pizza; and now I think she had more
common sense than the Obama woman. - They also used to make
the big old homemade rolls for us that were so tasty.

Yes. It’s ridiculous that it’s now considered normal for schools to need approval from the government for what they feed the kids. It’s been that way well before MO, but she just took it much further.

Someone who is probably around 50 years old now told me that her small town (tiny hamlet really) elementary school lunch lady made the best food. At the end of her sixth grade year she asked the lunch lady for her recipes.

I think we underestimate the importance of breaking bread together-even the preparation can be an act of love. If you love cooking and enjoy children, you could be inspired to make good food and find joy in your work. I work in the restaurant industry and see the pride that goes into it. Stomping out all creativity and being forced to serve slop sucks the joy out of the work in the kitchen and from the kids gathered with friends to eat.

It makes schools even closer to prisons. They already operate in similar fashion anyway.

Schools should decide on their own, and can decide on their own. I think the issue is, if they decline to obey these rules, then they lose their federal funding.

I’ve heard some school districts have done away with the Obama rules, and even did so while Obama was still president. They lost federal funds, but found that they were making it up by selling more products that the kids actually wanted to eat and drink.

I thought Trump had already rescinded these requirements for all school lunches.

We’ve seen that photo maybe 100 times and always get a kick out of it.

I just realized - there are some men who might think the figure on the gal on the right is the most attractive. I think it’s possible.

The muslim who owns Chobani got the contract to supply yogurt to all the schools in the country. MILLIONS! He is a big Obama donor.
